now the next major hurdle with solr is to fix the results

solr doesn't currently have all the analyzers as the current search so I will be spending this month porting them over

and maybe improving them so we finally have some good search results

naiveai: It was actually in reply to "good search results", but sure. :)

with zas in the air and bitmap asleep, we realized that we didn't even know how to restart postgres.

there are zero docs for trying to fix anything that does wrong.

that is something we need to fix, because all of our eggs are too concentrated in a few people.

i upgraded influxdb used by grafana, has a small issue due to undocumented change, fixed

i reviewed a bunch of PRs, related to mbs, picard, solr

also the great news coming with this new year: uber security issue in cpus ... we'll have to patch in few days

it will imply downtimes : firrmwares + kernel upgrades + various libs

more on this when actual fixes will be ready

how much is meltdown going to affect MB? I read Postgres takes a pretty big hit

Last three weeks, I mentored some GCI students for the project MusicBrainz: Daniel, Enjeck, Vinita, JYK for Design/Research; naiveaiguy, haruute, spellew for Code too. They all did worthy contributions, some of these are already available in beta. Thank you again!

I fixed small issues for MusicBrainz and CoverArtArchive redirect, reviewed a bunch of PRs, and have been looking at load issues on queen then on bowie.

I updated MusicBrainz server on December 21, and pushed a new beta on January 3. Next release is planned for today. The two weeks release is 2018 :)

So I've been doing the documentation/training tasks on musicbrainz and bookbrainz

know only basic c++ code so completing the no code tasks

SKGCI: If you know some C++, picking up, say, Python, shouldn't be insurmountable. You could try poking at some of those. Remember that the mentors are there to help you out when you encounter issues. :)

I had a hiccup with the very first release task, wasn't able to submit my acoustid but was finally able to resolve that :D

Freso: will look into that then! :D

So I hope to complete my last relase task next and maybe try some code tasks hopefully :)
