I worked a bit on React, with spellew’s help, and looked into plans for design system, bootstrap, and all.
τέλος ουσ ουδ! ruaok ruaok?

(People still up: iliekcomputers, vishalchoudhary[, LordSputnik – people maybe up (please confirm): Leftmost, Leo_Verto, alastairp, ferbncode. If anyone else wants to give a review, let me know.)
ruaok
last week I did a lot of admin stuff, like paying people.
yvanzo

I also finished tweaking the GSoC ideas page and our application.
then I spent a bunch of time finally getting the LB containers/cron squared away.
zas made a new graph for me.
hopefully tomorrow I can finish deploying the rest of the containers for the beta on LB.
Leo_Verto is here but still busy with exams
its beeen a loong road. sigh.
iliekcomputers: go
iliekcomputers
hello
i spent the past week working on LB and AB as usual
there was a small stats bug stopping calculation that I fixed
(Only LordSputnik is left. If anyone else wants to give a review, now's the time to say so!)
vishichoudhary_
and other PICARD related stuff
that's it from my side.
LordSputnik, go
LordSputnik
Otherwise you'll have to put up with me ^
Ok
Freso
vishichoudhary_: Are you the same as darkhorse?
LordSputnik
This week I did a lot more work on the BookBrainz relationship editor
Freso forgot
vishalchoudhary[
Yes
Freso
Cool. Sorry LordSputnik :)
LordSputnik
Everything works within the UI now, just need to add the editing/deleting stuff for existing relationships
But I want to clean up the code a bit before I move on to the server processing of relationships from the form
I also did a schema change, and added over 40 new relationship types :)
(locally - this will go live when the relationship editor goes live)
fin!
Freso
And no one else has said they wanted to do reviews, so...
Freso: Google Code-in
🙋
So Google Code-in is now officially over and all winners and finalists have been published. :)
CatQuest
GCI Finalists Hype!
Freso
Congratulations to naiveai[m] and haruute[m] for the grand prize winning!
LordSputnik
Great work guys :)
Freso
And congratulations to spellew and kartikohri and Enjeck for the finalist spots!
And congratulations to all the other students that completed tasks for us too!
samj1912 got his mentor certificate too today
CatQuest also got this :D
I feel like this year was the toughest one to pick out the top 5 from so far, so sorry to all the really close contenders, but in the end, we could only choose five. :(
CatQuest
indeed
Freso
In all we have had 741 tasks done. *A lot* of these were data entry ones, and *a lot* of these were handled by MajorLurker who stepped in at the beginning of the contest to help us out as we realised we were getting into deep waters.
*All* our mentors have done great jobs, but I really want to highlight MajorLurker in particularly for stepping in and providing breathing room for the rest of the team.
CatQuest
absolutely
Freso
Apparently he isn't here right now though. Ah well. :)
CatQuest
+100 MajorLurker
!m MajorLurker
BrainzBot
You're doing good work, MajorLurker!
Freso
GCI was also a bit crazy for me, as it happened right on top of me moving country as well, so everything was kind of disruptive. Thanks a lot to gcilou for acting as co-general-org. admin as well. She's really climbed the ladder. :)
CatQuest
he's vacationing in Bali :D
Freso
Ah, right, yeah.
CatQuest
wtg gcilou
Freso
I think that's about what I wanted to say. I hope GCI students haven't been too disruptive. :)
!m everyone for your patience
BrainzBot
You're doing good work, everyone for your patience!
bukwurm joined the channel
Freso
Okay. fin now.

yvanzo: anti-spam policy
CatQuest
i've got to say, iut was tiering, frustrating at times and exausting
and I'm really looking forard to doing it agai nnext year!
yvanzo
Actually “Spam Wars - Teaser”
Freso
CatQuest: ❤️
CatQuest
lol
Freso
yvanzo: :o
yvanzo
For months there are malicious users/bots abusing the MusicBrainz database to broadcast advertisement, scam, and other unsolicited content.
The most commonly used spam vectors are editor profile, then URL, Artist, Release and other MusicBrainz entities. There are other potential vectors that will need to be addressed, another day.
samj1912 reads it in SW monologue voice :P
This spam should be hidden/delete/blanked from the MusicBrainz database.
CatQuest
samj1912: 👍
yvanzo
(This is part of our world domination plan)
CatQuest
:D
yvanzo
Since unappropriate deletion and blaking can make irreversible damages, such operation should not be in the hands of everyone. At Summit 17, we proposed to create new privilege “spam ninjas” for editors allowed to take action against identified spam.
Freso
"The resistance are working to build tools to detect the spammers much faster to hopefully finally gain the upper hand."
CatQuest
now it *really* sounds like SW
yvanzo
Identifying spam entities (URL, Artist, Release, and so on) relies on public data. On the contrary, user accounts have private details such as email address. Spam ninjas won’t be allowed to read it, but SpamBrainz will.
To sum up, spam ninjas will have some admin capabilities (hiding/deleting/blanking illegitimate content) but won’t have access to private user details.
Any question, concern, remark, suggestion is welcome now, but applause.
CatQuest
well noone by hired/asmin should ideally see user's email?
Freso
LGTM.
CatQuest
lol asmin. admin*
ruaok
I see no problem with that.
Freso
I guess we can wrap up the meeting.
CatQuest
everyone but me did really well!
Freso
If anyone comes up with concerns etc. about the plan, they can poke yvanzo then.
yvanzo
ruaok: It depends on who is spam ninja then.
Freso will probably be spam ninja for beta release, since he is already catching spam as admin.
Freso
I'm looking forwards to being able to feed spam somewhere that will benefit from it rather than /dev/null.
CatQuest
how does it work, i mean, SpamBrainz will fidn the spammers and then present a list of not-clear-cut cases to Spam Ninjas for them to decide difficult cases?
yvanzo
CatQuest: No, _you_ will find the spammers so that SpamBrainz can learn how to do it later on.
CatQuest
decisions get fed back into SpamBrainz and repeat
oh ho!
yvanzo
(you = every editor)
CatQuest
well i'd definitly want to sign up for being n a ninja :D
ok, waht do Spamninja do?
Freso
CatQuest: :) Noted.
CatQuest
:D
yvanzo
You won't need to be a ninja to report spam. Ninjas are the ones beheading reported spam.
ruaok
i love the nomenclature of this project.
"behead"
Freso
Okay. If anyone comes up with concerns etc. about the plan, they can poke yvanzo then. I'm calling the meeting now. :)
yvanzo
SpamBrainz will be fed with the rest of it.
Freso
Thanks for the update yvanzo!
And thanks for your time everyone!
</BANG>
reosarevok
Let's hope spam is not like a hydra, because otherwise, you should be using a blunt weapon, not beheading it
Freso
Hail Hydra!
I mean, what?
CatQuest
wat
lol
but i'll report spam
can't wait to feed the SpamBrainz :D
reosarevok
Well otherwise the heads regrow
CatQuest
yep
you need the medusa head to make it into stone
erh. iir my greek mythos
hercules did it
and/or perseuves
or how you spell his name
reosarevok
Perseus I think. Which is funny because perse is ass in Estonian. And I have the sense of humor of a five year old
