CatQuest: In the RG feedback, point 1. How do you expand a release using bitmap's script? I thought that was for expanding a release group..
      • BrainzBot
MBS-9652: Redesign of "Release Group" Page
      • CatQuest
it's the same way as a release group, on the rartist pge you can expand release grous, on the rg page you cna expand the releases
      • D4RK-PH0ENiX has quit
      • infact you cna on the artist page expand first the release group and *then *the releases
      • and click a "edit" link to go straight to the edit page
      • (also edit to go straight to editing RG)
      • D4RK-PH0ENiX joined the channel
      • I'd suggest you install it and try it, it cna explain itself what it does better thna I can :D
      • chhavi_
        Expand the releases into?
      • CatQuest
        tracklist
      • also a bit of info about cd tracks date release artist
      • chhavi_
Aah okay. I will try using it too :)
      • CatQuest
        definitly!
      • anyway it can definitely be improved (by having more information, one thing i miss is lable info in the rlease group's releases but)
      • also yo ucna expand releases on label pages etc
      • definitly try it
      • i am so used otit, it's nuts whne i go to a machine without it instlaled i am liek "wait why can't i do...?" since i'm so used to it :D
      • chhavi_
About point 3. I do like the idea of showing bigger cover art of releases, and choosing one as default. The tracklist will also be that of the default.
      • CatQuest
if we must. i still fai lt osee tracklsit on RG as usefull. i feel a bit liek we're trying ot overthing what RG is used for
      • chhavi_
What if the default release, doesn't have a cover art/tracklist?
      • CatQuest
rg is a "list of releases" just as a release is "list of tracks"
      • exactly, what if?
      • chhavi_
Well, let's be nice to people who like the idea of having it. Atleast if it doesn't hamper the UX in any way.
      • CatQuest
i suppose. as long as I can prefrence it into oblivion :D
      • reosarevok
Well, right now we do have the option to choose a specific release cover to be the main cover
      • chhavi_
        Hi reosarevok :D
      • reosarevok
Not sure if that should be the same as the "main tracklist" if we add that or not
      • CatQuest
but you can't chose a non-coverart release as coverart for RG
      • reosarevok
Sure, that wouldn't make much sense. I'd expect you also can't choose a "no tracklist" one as the tracklist :D
      • CatQuest
so why not disallow "non-tracklist" for that
      • yea :D
      • chhavi_
I think that's making it a little too complicated. Should be simple. :)
      • CatQuest
        yes?
      • disallowing non coverart non tracklsit ones and having "defualt" be chosen by th same thing is making it simple?
      • i don't much care about cover art on RG either tbh
      • chhavi_
Let me think about it more.
      • chhavi_ puts in the notes to discuss more about later.
      • CatQuest
infact several of the things yo ucna only edit on rg i'd love to be albe to do fro mthe release edit screens
      • reosarevok
I mean, 99% of the cases, default = earliest works
      • CatQuest
        true
      • but that's often for early things. now adays you can have digital+vinyl+cd? released simultaniously
      • and what about 2 cd singles in the same rg that are separate. I'd except them both to be in the "default" tracklist
      • chhavi_
I think tracklist discussion can be taken to community forum as well. I will like to know if it's worth investing so much screen estate in it :p
      • CatQuest
basically this is why I am sceptical to it. since adding a tracklist here over complicates RG's A LOT
      • definitly!
      • chhavi_
CatQuest: can we move to next point? I have a few more questions :)
      • CatQuest
        sure!
      • chhavi_
point 4 is relationship section. I understand this section is majorly important to appear in overview tab for RG and releases?
      • SothoTalKer
tracklist for RG sounds like the "master" tracklist on discogs (:
      • CatQuest
        yes
      • almost more so for Rg thna releases if possibly
      • but yes
      • chhavi_
We didn't put it on artitst page (just thinking in terms of consistency). Should it have been there as well?
      • SothoTalKer
it depends on the relationship, no?
      • chhavi_
        SothoTalKer: hi there :)
      • SothoTalKer
        hello.
      • the most prominent relationships right now are URL relationships for release/release groups/artist and are displayed in the sidebar
      • CatQuest
things like "member of" on groups is something I'd like on an overview page.. maybe
      • SothoTalKer
all other relationships are neatly hidded on the "relationship" tab now.
      • CatQuest
could have "current members" and th other ones in a colapsable list
      • yea. hidden
      • chhavi_
CatQuest: we do have the current members in the sidebar for artists in the redesign :)
      • CatQuest
        yep!
      • older group members/groups the artist was in but not currently maybe in a collapsed list underneat?
      • a lot of these als ohave no date attached, seeing them utomatically might uh "call to actino for improving" ?:D
      • chhavi_
noted :) Thanks for all the feedback.
      • CatQuest
        thanks YOU for listening :)

      • CatQuest
hmm and we didn't discus point 5 ¬¬
      • anywa i'll take al ittle break now . ahhh
      • SothoTalKer
with number 5 i totally agree with CatQuest :)
      • one could split the URLs up into more logical lists
      • like, anything official by the artist like homepage and social media is listed differently than any other database we link to, like any bibliographical authority.
      • meh :D
      • chhavi_
Sorry, I got distracted by posts on discourse.
