i'm blocking a suspect IP, identified that most of its queries are generating 502s and prolly triggering this issue

CatQuest: travis-ci and GitHubBot (or whatever its name) can't just lurk in all channels they post to since there's a limit to how many channels any given user can be connected to, and Travis and GitHub are probably used by more projects/for more channels than what that limit it. The reason the limit is there is because every time someone writes a message in a channel, Freenode has to process it (CPU time) and then send (upload) that message to

if you're looking for a replacement for those bots, hubot is pretty nice and works extremely well with webhooks. we used to use it for the bookbrainz bot before the channel merge
