Hi, ListenBrainz UI keeps disappearing. Is it a known issue?

goldenshimmer: i don't think so. what issue are you seeing?
      • goldenshimmer
Probably 3 out of 4 times I load my profile, it only has the top navigation and tabs, no listens shown.
      • Sometimes it gets into that state after the page is already loaded.
      • _lucifer
strange, it seems to be okay for me currently.
      • when did you face this issue and are you still facing it?
      • goldenshimmer
It has been going on for a couple days. It is working at the moment. I've seen it in a couple browser profiles, I'm pretty sure. There were JS errors spammed in the console that look like they're related to You Tube (I assume the embedded player thing?)
      • _lucifer
        yeah that's the embedded player.
      • the lb devs are probably unavailable at this time. i suggest you to open a ticket with the details or check back here in a few hours.
      • goldenshimmer
My hypothesis is that some tracks are causing error when it tries to find them for the player, and that it cascades into breaking the entire page, but I'm not familiar with the code. (I can't play You Tube anyway in my browser — although I haven't tried on ListenBrainz — so maybe that's related? It very rarely works, but for the most part it never loads)
      • You Tube has been broken on my browser for a long time, though, and the ListenBrainz issue just started a couple days ago.
      • _lucifer
also it would be helpful to debug the issue if you could take a screenshot of the page and copy the errors from the console the next time you face the issue.
      • goldenshimmer
        Will do.
      • _lucifer
the youtube player not working should not affect the rest of the page but if there's a bug it might happen
      • goldenshimmer
Incidentally, I'd love a way to turn off that player entirely... if I accidentally click on a track, it tries to start the player, and repeatedly says it could not find a track.
      • Here we go, it broke again
      • _lucifer
yeah would be a nice feature to have, feel free to open a ticket for that as well

      • can you share your username? its working for me so it might have to do somethign with your listen data

i was able to reproduce it.
      • main.cab86e6f2d298358c640.js:30 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'track_name' of undefined
      • huh, it seems to me that its due to slow internet
      • goldenshimmer
My network connection is faster than dial up, but not very fast — 3 Mbit/s
      • Ping is probably all over the place since I use vpn and have lots of other things using it at once
      • _lucifer
hehe, i meant something like 100kb/s
      • or slower
      • nvm, that's probably wrong.
      • goldenshimmer
well, that's probably about what this is if something else is using it, since 3Mbit/s is 375KB/s
      • I have opened https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/LB-817 for option to turn off the music player, for the record
      • BrainzBot
LB-817: Feature request: Option to turn off the built in music player
      • _lucifer
if i keep the page open, it goes blank after sometime. that time seems to coincide with when a new listen is added
      • goldenshimmer
oh, interesting. I've noticed that it does after a time but had not correlated that
      • _lucifer
which makes sense, the page probably queries for new listens or receives new ones and there's a bug in processing that new data

zas: reosarevok : I restarted the mb website container on trille due to long response times
      • zas
ruaok: I tried already, it only receives 1/10 of requests it should, and is uber slow
      • that's likely due to rabbitmq running on same node
      • we could limit rabbitmq, but it requires to stop/start it, and since that's a single instance...
      • ruaok
        yeah, I see.
      • zas
whoever uses rabbitmq: what about clustering it?
      • ruaok
but I fail to see how rabbitmq is the problem.
      • almost no diskio, 25% CPU.
      • zas
me too, we could also try to reboot the node, but same problem, rabbitmq service stopped
      • ruaok
beam.smp / telegraf. that seems to be using much more CPU than I would expect it to.
      • can you see if telegraf is processing stupid amounts of data?
      • zas
telegraf has a problem for sure, now let's see if it's the cause
      • not sure about this, but otherwise telegraf seems to work ok
      • but something started at 2am
      • telegraf looks fine now, restarted, no visible change, and it runs once every minute only
      • something cpu hungry started at 2am (our time), but I don't know what
