bitmap: I've canceled my previous PR and done the second one. It should be ok now.
      • CatQuest
(also as demonstrated by my not knowing what it meant) it's unclear" what we mean with it :)
      • just spelling it out like alastairp said is imho better.
      • clearer
      • alastairp
CatQuest: yeah. I think there was a very specific meaning of "only text, no mbids" when we came up with it
      • but I agree that it can be understood in 2 ways, and we should just be clear about it
      • CatQuest
        "barebones" perhaps?
      • "skeletal data"
      • alastairp
well, we already have it in the name
      • messy?
      • CatQuest
        messy. i like that :D
      • alastairp
not to say all data in it is messy
      • but potentially some
      • CatQuest
        yea
      • indeed
      • alastairp
and then we can specify what we mean (misspellings, missing data, incorrectly cited, no mbids)
      • CatQuest
        exactly
      • stanislas
bitmap, reosarevok: I've canceled my previous PR and done the second one. It should be ok now.

stanislas: General hint, you can update a pull request on GitHub by pushing to its base branch. (Force-push, if you changed history.)
      • gcilou
Freso, CatQuest, alastairp: I guess I'll be transforming this infographic to an essay on unclean/messy/'unworthy' data? Lol, I'll try to explain in minimal words
      • stanislas
chirlu: Ok, I will next time. Thanks :)
      • chirlu: Have you seen my recent PR ?
      • chirlu`
        Yes, I saw.
      • stanislas
        is it ok now ?
      • chirlu: ^
      • gcilou
How about now: "MessyBrainz is a project to support 'messy' metadata (data without MusicBrainz IDs).  MessyBrainz is being used internally within AcousticBrainz and ListenBrainz.  MessyBrainz plans to open the mappings of the messy metadata to MusicBrainz IDs to the public."
      • Freso, alastairp ^
      • stanislas
chirlu`: is it ok now ?
      • Freso
I'd say "open up" instead of "open". Or perhaps "release".
      • Looks otherwise ok to me. I'll leave it to alastairp to give the final word though. :)

Sorry I keep asking about this, but it seems like no one knows the years that each of the MeB projects were released. Is that so>

gcilou: You can try a whoIS request on the domains to see if that results in anything... Also, check the first commits for each github repo. That is, until someone that knows replies
      • gcilou
        ok..
      • I think I found them all.

Has anyone else tried the rate-limiting fork of listenbrainz yet by chance? Encountered any issues with it failing to properly rate-limit?

opatel99: We pick the materials that we want to use and take all the tests and stuff and keep track of our resumes and grades and things. Some is online but mostly books

        gcilou: Cool!
      • gcilou
        It's fun and flexible
      • opatel99
I would imagine so. My brother did homeschooling for a bit

stanislas: the new PR looks good to me - I'll let bitmap take a look too though :)
      • stanislas
        reosarevok: thanks
      • reosarevok: i am going to plan my time now, do you know how long could it take ?
      • reosarevok
Not really, but probably not a huge amount of time
      • I'd expect he'll be around in a few hours and it seems easy to review

      • I have it written. Just want to make sure it works for others
      • CallerNo6
ah. I wouldn't be able to get to it for a while. I can help tonight if nobody else has. Sorry.
      • opatel99
        Thanks CallerNo6 .
      • Mineo

      • opatel99

I still get the same not-loaded metadata as in my previous screenshot :(
      • opatel99
After changing the file to filenames?

      • Mineo
you mean a screenshot or some remote desktop thing?
      • mehtab
i am confused as to what the "time available" field means on task in google code in
      • opatel99
        Remote Desktop
      • Time to complete the task I believe^
      • Mineo
you can, but I'm not sure why :)
      • mehtab
okay, so i'll have to do it in that time, once i claim it?
      • Mineo
I totally believe you that the code is working, there are just some race conditions in there that lead to it not working correctly under all circumstances
      • dpmittal has quit
      • CallerNo6
mehtab, each task needs to be completed in 3 days (by default). More time can be added if a student needs it.
      • mehtab
and if i don't finish it in that time, it will become available to others?
      • opatel99
Mineo: I dont understand the circumstances that cause it to fail...
      • jct has left the channel
      • Mineo
do you have some albums in the FLAC format?
      • it seems to happen more often with them
      • CallerNo6
mehtab, if you are running out of time, Freso (or another mentor) will ask if you need more. If you say "yes", we'll extend the deadline. Or you can abandon the task and try something else at that point.
      • ... we don't want you to fail, we want you to learn :-)
      • opatel99
        Mineo: I do not
      • CallerNo6
mehtab: ... (and have fun. This is supposed to be fun).
      • mehtab
i'll try to have fun once i get started
      • i am just trying to understand the process currently
      • i have one more question - how do i know if someone else is also working on the same task?
      • Leo_Verto has quit
      • reosarevok
mehtab: you won't be able to select it in that case, if it's one where only one person can do it
      • I dunno if it notifies you when it's a multiple-instance task, but in any case nobody should be able to "steal" your task so to say
      • opatel99
Mineo: Do you have chrome remote desktop?
      • I just want to reproduce it so I can fix it.
      • mehtab
so, all the tasks that are currently 'claimable' are not currently being worked on?
      • opatel99
        Correct^
      • CallerNo6
mehtab, that depends. some tasks have multiple "instances". that is, more than one person can be working on it.
      • mehtab
like "Give a presentation to your class about MusicBrainz" ?
      • CallerNo6
Exactly. Several students are working on that one.
      • Mineo
        I don't think I have chrome remote desktop, opatel99
      • opatel99
Mineo: Could you send me FLAC files?
      • mehtab
then will the best presentation be selected somehow?
      • and only that student will pass
      • opatel99
mehtab: The task is to present it to the class. All students who complete the task get `credit`
      • CallerNo6
mehtab, no. I hope that each presentation is good enough to be accepted :-)
      • mehtab
ok. just like class assignments then :)
      • CallerNo6
        yes
      • Mineo
except that your topic doesn't suck ;)
      • spuniun joined the channel
      • CallerNo6
but don't quote us on that!
      • reosarevok
mehtab: there are a few cases where only one of the resulting works will be picked at the end (for example some design tasks) - but all students will get the task as accepted if they finish it, even if their design is not the chosen one in the end :)
      • spuniun
so I'm attempting to build my own mirror from source - I've no familiarity with nodejs and running into error with gulp
      • mehtab
i could do this one but i have my exams going on, so no classes to present to :/
      • opatel99
        spuniun: What project?
      • reosarevok
mehtab: the program lasts quite a bit, so maybe later you'll have that possibility? :)
      • spuniun
        musicbrainz
      • opatel99
        npm install -g musicbrainz
      • Mineo
opatel99: if you download a few albums from http://ocremix.org/albums/ and loading them simultaneously, you might see the error
      • opatel99
Run that in terminal with root(admin) privileges
      • mehtab
oh, yeah, these kind of tasks will stay open till the end right?
      • CallerNo6
spuniun, actually, don't run anything with root privileges unless you know what it does
