So in the past couple of days we've had a few new issues reported by Mineo. We'll probably be able to fix two of them by January (BB-152 and BB-153), but the third (BB-154) may be part of the "make a new theme" project

      • 2015-12-21 35516, 2015

      • LordSputnik
opatel99: no, mostly they're too simple for GCI
      • 2015-12-21 35532, 2015

      • LordSputnik
It's just a case of finding 10-20 minutes here or there to fix them
      • 2015-12-21 35555, 2015

      • Leftmost
We could set them up as beginner tasks, perhaps.
      • 2015-12-21 35501, 2015

      • LordSputnik
Leftmost: so I plan to continue with -data-js, -sql and direct-database next week. Feeling optimistic about it being ready for January at the moment

That's my plan for the week as well. Do you have specific plans for what to touch? Is there a way we can divide them up for extra-super-efficiency? :)
      • 2015-12-21 35527, 2015

      • LordSputnik
Leftmost: I'm not sure, they do sort of have a beginner feel to them, but they don't really introduce students to -ws or -schema

      • Leftmost
LordSputnik, is there any way we can (quickly) adapt the current -ws work as a stopgap until we have a proper WS in place, or should we just push forward without for a bit?
      • 2015-12-21 35528, 2015

      • reosarevok
But yeah, in general, don't hesitate to throw simple stuff at GCI too. The students will want to do 10 tasks after all
      • 2015-12-21 35542, 2015

      • reosarevok
(I think that's the minimum to be able to be picked as a finalist)
      • 2015-12-21 35552, 2015

      • reosarevok
So if a few of those are easy and a few hard, it seems fair
      • 2015-12-21 35555, 2015

      • opatel99
reosarevok: I believe the top 10 are finalist, regardless of tasks

      • reosarevok
Oh, heh, maybe I misremembered :)
      • 2015-12-21 35527, 2015

      • LordSputnik
Leftmost: I don't mind pushing forward with a very basic replacement - I think we'll need to do one to support the Amazon userscript, if someone does that for GCI, but if not, we can go without
      • 2015-12-21 35505, 2015

      • opatel99
do one what to support the Amazon userscript?

      • 2015-12-21 35556, 2015

      • LordSputnik
reosarevok: yeah, we select the top 10 students based on "score" (number of completed tasks), then choose 5 finalists then 2 prize winners

      • 2015-12-21 35513, 2015

      • reosarevok
If they're at all connected or similar, I'd group the tasks, yeah
      • 2015-12-21 35534, 2015

      • reosarevok
(and in some cases, even if they're not, given they're easy-ish)
      • 2015-12-21 35503, 2015

      • reosarevok
Also do you have any task like "research how to map the LoC style data to BB"?
      • 2015-12-21 35514, 2015

(those are also valid tasks and might be useful)

zas | Freso: make this BrainzBot improvement a GCI task ? ;) -- I think anything BrainzBot related is too much work to be a GCI task this year. We need to get more familiar with BotBot to be able to understand it properly ourselves first, and maybe even make the whole BotBot system a bit more sane. Maybe BrainzBot tasks will be feasible next year.

LordSputnik | Leo_Verto: well bugs are easy to fix, we've been throwing harder things at GCI -- toss two or three of them together to make a task then.
