jesus2099: do you remove any entries too?
      • Or just put them together?
      • jesus2099
        ujst put them together :)
      • reosarevok
I've moved Edit profile, Change password and Preferences onto the profile page
      • Which should make a combined menu a bit less huge
      • But we'll see :=
      • * :)
      • jesus2099
yes of course, I would like that too
      • gcilou joined the channel
      • reosarevok: http://i.imgur.com/kHQeOpQ.png here is the merged menu
      • reosarevok
Hmm. It doesn't feel that huge
      • Might be doable
      • jesus2099
i’m used to it… when menus were two, I would always open the wrong menu first, whatever I was looking for. :)
      • ruaok
reosarevok: eventually we'll move the blog.
      • not now. got a dozen other things I'm slacking on.
      • ruaok notes that some things will never change
      • reosarevok
        Ok :)
      • ruaok
remind me about the IA stuff in a couple of hours.
      • reosarevok
Was just curious because I just noticed that on Twitter the link shows the MeB logo
      • Ok, sure
      • ruaok
gotta get the office stuff to be board first.
      • reosarevok
        Sure :)
      • ruaok
in the meantime, another ad seller on support@
      • reosarevok
(yay office. will it have a ball pit?)
      • ruaok
        sorry, no ball bit.
      • free wifi. :)

[15:54] <reosarevok> (Once it's on and people are using it, I think I'll make a poll for Classical Cleanup of the Month and try to get people to fix up Mozart or Beethoven or something)
      • lmao
      • :D
      • ruaok
chrisskye: I made some minor edits to the stalker email.
      • reosarevok
Well, given how much time it takes for one person to clean someone like Messiaen (tons) I don't want to even think about a "big" name on my own :p
      • ruaok
I think that is good enough to get started with
      • CatQuest
[16:03] <jesus2099> i’m used to it… when menus were two, I would always open the wrong menu first, whatever I was looking for. :) this is true, I always do that
      • reosarevok
ruaok: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP1QXKbhqr4 this kind of stalker? :p
      • ruaok
chrisskye: let me know if you want me to jump in on the shared workspace proposal
      • CatQuest
reosarevok: tsk I was expecting rick astley
      • chirlu`
[12:36:12] <Freso> reosarevok: I think we can just clone (literally git clone) the coverartarchive repository for an eventartarchive site and make changes there. That should also make it easy-ish to port changes between the two sites as they are unlikely to differ too much any time soon.
      • reosarevok
        That's not a stalker! :p
      • chirlu`
I don’t think that’s a good idea. Based on experience, porting changes between the two codebases isn’t going to work.
      • chrisskye
shit...I haven’t even eaten yet... Just got in and put eggs on...
      • reosarevok
"Are your users using ad blockers ? If so you are losing money as we speak !! The users are stilling from you !!!!"
      • Well I hope they are, but not for us :D
      • Freso
I hate when users are stilling from us. :(
      • reosarevok
        Ikr
      • chirlu`
Instead, the (probably few) parts that have to change should be extracted into a configuration file.
      • reosarevok
chirlu`: you don't happen to be volunteering, are you? I at least could use the help! (Freso might be more able than I am though :p)
      • Freso
Sounds like he's volunteering to me. ;)
      • reosarevok is just hoping to get the social side of this done and transfer it to someone who can code better than he does
      • chirlu`
        I’m not, no.
      • reosarevok
        Aww.
      • CJ_
I barely have enough time to mess with search. No volunteering for me.
      • reosarevok
        wtf
      • ruaok
here are some picture of the office space:
      • reosarevok
The "Are your users using ad blockers?" mail came straight to me, not support@
      • How can an ad seller *already* have this account :p
      • It was created like yesterday!
      • ruaok
Freso: we went back today, on a rainy overcast day, to have a look at the natural light.
      • Freso
Well. That was almost an hour that could have been spent setting up Discourse or writing blog post. :|
      • ruaok: How was it?
      • ruaok
The corner offices are really well lit. The smaller offices are ok.
      • the front hall is not so great, but that is where random OSS hackers would be sitting.
      • Freso puts in a ticket for a corner office :p
      • I've already claimed the southern corner office.
      • the nothern one is even larger.
      • but you and gentlecat could easily fit in there comfortably.
      • Freso
Anyway, I need to get ready to go teach. I'll catch y'all later.
      • ruaok
check out the pics when you get back.
      • Lotheric_ is now known as Lotheric
      • zas: please see your email. there is some musicbrainz mail bouncing and I'm not sure why
      • yep, zas snat musicbrainz.org is boucing too
      • UmkaDK_: thanks for your fedback.
      • +e
      • we'll consider that the BBC has given us its offical feedback then, yes?
      • UmkaDK_
ruaok: no problem! Sorry it took a bit longer then expected.
      • ruaok
there was no rush, so all good. thanks!
      • UmkaDK_
Yep :), call it an official endorsement of pgsql 9.5 :D
      • ruaok
        fabu. :)
      • > the New York-based Stupid Hackathon is disrupting hackathon culture
      • now that is a hack a thon I can get behind.
      • reosarevok: ^^
      • reosarevok
        :)
      • Thanks!
      • Told them already

      • http://reosarevok.mbsandbox.org/ - so, I was moving header links out of the headers and into the menus (or removing them altogether when they're not useful)
      • Could you see if the way I did it seems reasonable and if not suggest other names for the moved and stuff?
      • *moved links
      • Also, do we need "subscriptions" under the profile link? Edits for subscriptions is already under My Data so that's just a link to a list of subscriptions...
      • ruaok
I still think the "Conectarse / Crear cuenta" should be orange in that design.
      • everywhere else on the page if there is a purple line, it is orange above it.
      • reosarevok
Maybe. It's all the same colour in https://critiquebrainz.org/ and https://metabrainz.org/ though so if we want to go for consistency...
      • Although I guess "Sign Up" in MeB is orange
      • Lingo_ has quit
      • reosarevok shrugs
      • ruaok
TBH, there isn't enough orange. period.
      • and you know what that means.
      • reosarevok
I'm not really touching the design right now anyway, just trying to improve the menus :)
      • Lingo_ joined the channel
      • ruaok is sad? :p
      • Lingo_ has quit
      • There's plenty of orange on hover, fwiw
      • ruaok gets out his VETO pen

really, I am not going to complain. that looks better than I expected.
      • !m Gentlecat
      • BrainzBot
        You're doing good work, Gentlecat!
      • adhawkins
Quick question about the postgresql update. Am I a 'live data feed' user if I run a replicated server?
      • reosarevok
        I think so
      • Gentlecat
ruaok: in glad you like it
      • ruaok
        adhawkins: yep.
      • adhawkins
Ok. Debian stable seems to only have postgres 9.4, so forcing 9.5 would be a little inconvenient for anyone running Debian.
      • reosarevok
When is the next debian stable release
      • ?
      • adhawkins
Ages away I'd guess. Certainly long after May.
      • reosarevok
bitmap: is root/static/scripts/common/MB/Control/Menu.js react? (it looks jquery-ish to me but I know nothing about react)
      • (I want to make the menus clickable but I'm not sure if I need to look for the react way or if I can use jquery or what)
      • Lingo_ has quit
      • adhawkins
I'll put a comment on the blog post to that effect then, as I suspect it's non-trivial to get 9.5 into Debian.
      • reosarevok
Isn't it just adding a repo to the sources list?
      • adhawkins
I'm not sure. That would require someone to have packaged 9.5 for Debian stable. Or backported it perhaps.
      • I tend to stick with 'official' Debian sources if I can.
      • ruaok
thats a good point of feedback, adhawkins
      • adhawkins
        No problem.
      • alastairp
fyi, postgres packages postgres for debian
      • I use it
      • adhawkins
I'll add it to the blog so it doesn't get lost.
      • alastairp: Ah ok, wasn't aware of that. Assuming they play nicely then that'd probably be Ok.
      • alastairp
yeah, it seems to work with all of the standard extra debian cluster tools
      • adhawkins
Ok, sounds fine though. Just reading the page on the postgres site about their repos.
      • Lingo_ joined the channel
      • Does the current version work with 9.5?
      • Current version of musicbrainz server I mean.
      • ruaok shakes his head at PDF on the blog comments

      • reosarevok
bitmap: nevermind, I see jquery worked fine so I guess it's jquery :p
      • alastairp
        adhawkins: almost certainly
      • adhawkins
        No advance on 'almost'? :)
      • If I knew it worked, I might try an upgrade to 9.5 in advance just to be prepared.
      • alastairp
I guess your question is “is postgres 9.1 compatible with 9.5"
      • 9.3, whatever
      • to which the answer should be yes
      • adhawkins
I can always snapshot my VM before upgrading in case something goes awry.
      • alastairp
the only problem is that a 9.5 server won’t load datafiles for an earlier version, so you’ll have to use pg_upgrade or reimport anyway
