zas: do you have any suggestions for using chef for development? for example, can I use local version of the source code instead of pulling it from a git repo?
2016-03-28 08800, 2016
zas
Gentlecat: not sure what you mean here, you can use local files at least during developpement phase, but at the end you'll need to have code available either in the cookbook repo (ie. scripts) or as external source (can be anything, usually versionned files via git, but also external archives)
2016-03-28 08846, 2016
bitmap
you can probably add a development attribute that tells it not to pull the source if it's set
2016-03-28 08846, 2016
zas
the thing is about to make things reproductible, running chef cookbooks on one machine or another should produce the same result
2016-03-28 08807, 2016
Gentlecat
I was writing that cookbook for CB, but it pulls from the repo
2016-03-28 08811, 2016
zas
ah yes, if you need a staging state you can use attributes
2016-03-28 08843, 2016
Gentlecat
would be nice to have something similar to current state of things: vagrant VM which shares a directory and a couple of ports
2016-03-28 08812, 2016
Gentlecat
ok
2016-03-28 08845, 2016
zas
btw, i'm fighting chef and letsencrypt, the thing is not trivial, and we need letsencrypt to be handled by chef on gateways, i found an existing cookbook, but i could get it to work on VM yet, i'll give it another try soon
interesting, the artist was added today, by another editor

zas
bitmap: what does the patch you deployed ?
2016-03-28 08827, 2016
Leftmost
It's not folded into the current MeB cert stuff and has about two and a half weeks left before its cert expires. It just needs to get folded in with the other stuff so that bb.o remains SSLful.

If you need anything from me for that, please let me know.

zas: the js has been making requests with empty mbid= parameters, so the duplicate checker wasn't filtering out the same entity, it was seeing it as a duplicate of itself
2016-03-28 08842, 2016
bitmap
it takes the mbid from the window's URL now, so it shouldn't be empty
Michael Wiencek: MBS-8874: Editing an entity sometimes shows it as a possible duplicate

Leftmost: i guess instead of renewing this cert, we can generate a new one from LE
2016-03-28 08851, 2016
zas
i really need to finish this cookbook/chef/LE thing for gateways
2016-03-28 08841, 2016
Leftmost
Other projects are using LE, right? If so, it'd definitely be better if BB did too. The current cert was a result of us doing our own thing and not thinking to ourselves, "Let's ask Rob what to do".

2016-03-28 08834, 2016

Then yeah, I'd say migrate BB to LE. I'll put in a ticket as soon as I'm home.
Well, if you're going to be a contact, you should probably be primary. :) "Legal entities. A primary contact should belong to upper management or the organisation's board."
2016-03-28 08819, 2016

that makes sense. what do I need to do?

navap: Should tell tinyhippo that ruaok should be primary contact.
When I got back I caught up on IRC and forums and did a rough sorting of GSoC proposals.

Today I took steps to infiltrate^Wimprove our relations with Freenode, joining their "Group Advisory Board" (see https://freenode.net/groupreg ). Not really sure what this will mean in practice, but I'm getting a lot of love for Music- and MetaBrainz in its channel. :)
