I'm starting to really like unicode/bytes in python 3
bitmap
it's harder to accidentally shoot yourself in the foot, ime
Gentlecat
oh yeah, I still remember having plenty of problems with that before
bitmap
perl on the other hand seems to be magic from what I can tell
"The principle is that Perl tries to keep its data as eight-bit bytes for as long as possible, but as soon as Unicodeness cannot be avoided, the data is transparently upgraded to Unicode." http://search.cpan.org/~jhi/perl-5.8.0/pod/perl...
so yeah, magic
Gentlecat
*transparently*
bitmap
well whatever that means, it seems to be working :P
Gentlecat
would hope so
Gentlecat doesn't look forward to the day the magic fails
I actually started looking at that because all the strings suddenly stopped working with this old memcached plugin
which kind of makes sense
but now that everything is explicitly converted and works, it just feels right
bitmap
encoded strings are always bytes, right?
Gentlecat
right
and then you decode with the same encoding you used
zas: I've seen plenty of "long" bonus track which are like 30+ minutes of silence and then someone doing a cough (<2 seconds of audio) and it's over.

Freso: those could be made in order to cool down after the album and not hearing the CD player mechanism right after the end of that super cool ending song… :)
zas, is it easy to identificate (coudln’t find the right word?!) what requests are the top 10, i mean are /entity/mbid/open_edits in the top 10 for instance, sutff like that

Freso: by cool down, I think in english we would say “chill out”
i have noticed that (some?) reports (the official reports, not the report sandbox tool), “only in my scubrscription” checkbox would not work
it would always display all results
