I actually started looking at that because all the strings suddenly stopped working with this old memcached plugin

yea, so basically they force you to be explicit now, you can't put bytes in a str and then do stringy stuff with it

i.e. python2's str type

and it seems more appropriate for modern world when you actually use unicode by default

have you played with the asyncio stuff?

nope

kinda curious of the effects you'd see with your postgres, redis, and http libs all asyncio-aware, so with all your io was done via coroutines

but I guess if the io is all dependent on each other and you have to 'await' everything it'd make no difference

maybe I shouldn't be thinking of this in term's of javascript's event loop

might make a difference if this can be run concurrently

if you have several database/http calls that don't depend on eachother and can be waited on concurrently, I imagine it would help some, yeah

which is how I'm used to thinking in javascript land, just not sure if the semantics are the same

zas: I've seen plenty of "long" bonus track which are like 30+ minutes of silence and then someone doing a cough (<2 seconds of audio) and it's over.
