if people want that, it's a good point though. on the other hand, cover art can be loaded asychronously

fetching external resources for the page probably does make it slow, but that's why we'd have the server only return the results table
2016-05-22 14304, 2016

might be that it's still slow even then. I guess we'd have to check

Someone with a metered connection (like me, presently) might not want to load covers during search at all. It might help to provide an option for that in configuration.

I'm just looking at the spreadsheet and yeah 500eruo a month is not to be sniffed at, but like you said the ddos thing is the only concerning thing, all someone would have to do is ddos your gateway servers and it would all be down due to them null routing the ips

ruaok: I filled in the values for online.net, I don't know if those servers would actually be suitable, but if they were it would defintely be worth seeing if they would do it sans VAT as well (probably would as you are a US company) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1L5W8pjvuu… and that would give you ddos protection, and 1GBPS RPN (similar to vrack)

also while the hetzner network is supposed to be considered pretty good, as I understand it it goes Hetzner < online.net < OVH, but that could be just anecdotal, it would also depend where your biggest customer base is, it might be worth getting someone from a few different places pinging servers from each to see what kind of latentcy they get
