bitmap: you can create your own named network, and it is shared within the swarm
i'm trying to sort out admin tasks to maintain such swarm up and running, and secured
we can achieve something much better than what we have now, with huge scalability (adding/removing a mbs server is one-line command if we use service discovery)

unrelated, but I wonder how many emails we send out from MeB servers per day...
if we could get a discount from https://www.mailgun.com/ or a similar service instead of running our own smtp server, that'd be great...
Gentlecat
having a single SMTP server will definitely be nice
or that even
bitmap
spf/dkim/dmarc/etc. are awful to set up and still don't guarantee your messages won't be sent to spam
I imagine mbs subscription emails are the bulk of our output
Gentlecat
could try to use it just for projects other than MB
though zas did something for discourse on wiley iirc
Gentlecat
oh, I need to actually make it localhost
there was no replace
ok, now actually done
CatQuest
I think we should redesign pretty much *all* our eamils, make them look nicer, less scary (someone has voted on on your..) and more informative (eg subscription)

bitmap: regarding the email stuff... I wondering if we have to actually deal with this right now.
Gentlecat
I made dockerized CB work with jenkins
ruaok
move MB to NewHost before dealing with this?
Gentlecat
perhaps it would be better to do the same for LB
CatQuest
but yea, that can be done *after* moving ot NewHost, surly
ruaok
Gentlecat: what steps need to be taken for that?
CatQuest
or should that be "moving to Hezner" now, since it's decided?
Gentlecat
run containers, copy output, cleanup properly
the problem with email server is that it's hard to make it work right
bitmap
well, I have to setup a postfix container otherwise
there are some existing ones that might work
ruaok
if a new email service is the shortest path for getting things done, by all means lets do that.
Gentlecat
I still need to try that postfix setup, just to have something
bitmap
the container I made works but doesn't have DKIM or DMARC set up
Gentlecat
right
ruaok
Gentlecat: what was the invocation for getting jenkins to run tests for an LB branch again?
diana_olhovyk_ joined the channel
Gentlecat
`docker-compose -f docker-compose.test.yml up --build`
though, there's no test setup for LB, as far as I see
ruaok
not locally, but on jenkins.
Gentlecat
oh, you are not talking about docker, I got confused
not sure if this works with multiple domains though

./setup.sh finished!

good. given that there is not setup.sh, this should give interesting results.

I spent the better part of the week sick and asleep, so I have little to say.
chirlu
Being sick was the better part of your week?
chirlu doesn’t want to know about the worse part, then.
Spent most of this week doing a school tour and some "open house" stuff with my former dance school.
I also had a lot of additional downtime this week due to replacing the disk in my laptop (120→480 GB), which also involved a file system change (ext4→btrfs) and an encryption schema change (just /home→basically all of /), so it wasn't as straight forward as just `dd` dumping from one disk to the other.
Combined with the dance school stuff, this disk dance took a couple days longer than it had to, but it seems to work smoothly now. 🙌
