I don't think in all my 35 years I've even heard of school, work or kindergarden being cancelled or closed because of snow. perhaps as cause of roads being blocked by landslides, or actual snowstorm, but not snow

it' actually snowing for the first time this winter . it'll probably melt tomorrow, but still. this winter has been ridiculously warmer than usual :/

I don't mind if it stays in the -2 to -5 area instead of going near -20, but +7 to almost 10 is ridiculous

It seems like it's been colder than last year so far.

it's depressing because it's so dark, is one, it's too warm and it's weird is 2, and 3 it messes up the nature :/

(But last year was a crazy warm winter.)

he, where I live, we get summer-winter temperature swings of around -35°C to +35°C (at the very extremes - like coldest day of year to hottest)

I mean it's mostly the people who are confused because we're used to seeing green not brown

CatQuest, this year is reasonably wet (at least in the north), but the real problem is that people aren't adjusting to the "new normal".

we don't get much snow around here :) and kepstin sometimes they recover and other times our trees just die because too hot + not enough rain

reminds me that there's a running joke about vancouver (canada west coast) film studios - there's a single palm tree in a pot in the city that just gets moved around from set to set to make it look like "california" when filming scenes set in US.

iirc there was a ... comedy? movie a while back set in vancouver where they showed the tree getting pushed around on a cart.

we really should add more tests for picard :P

(it's a joke, because palm trees actually grow reasonably well in vancouver due to the mild weather)

i'm doing some stuff to make test files for replaygain tags, and I'm thinking I might have to add a few new frames to it to support some of the really weird/old ones

but it does let me do crazy things like APEv2 tags on MP3 files which some replaygain tools did :/

hehe yeah :P no wonder picard has an option to clear APEv2 tags from mp3 :P
