"It is really cold (-9 C)"
:P
[19:59] * Freso might have taken some unofficial "snow days" when he went to school... not sure whether he ever had any "real" ones.
I don't think in all my 35 years I've even heard of school, work or kindergarden being cancelled or closed because of snow. perhaps as cause of roads being blocked by landslides, or actual snowstorm, but not snow
we have the brøytebiler, the cars with a snowplough insfront going
it' actually snowing for the first time this winter . it'll probably melt tomorrow, but still. this winter has been ridiculously warmer than usual :/
I don't mind if it stays in the -2 to -5 area instead of going near -20, but +7 to almost 10 is ridiculous
Freso
It seems like it's been colder than last year so far.
CatQuest
it's depressing because it's so dark, is one, it's too warm and it's weird is 2, and 3 it messes up the nature :/
Freso
(But last year was a crazy warm winter.)
CatQuest
you mean iforifjor :D
last last year
it's 2017 \o/🙌
Freso
The winter of 2016 was crazy warm in DK.
(Dec 2015, Jan-Feb 2016)

it's like what we talked about in narfe nabout prototype ideas. so I consider the winter of '15-'16 to belong to 2015 alwayss. heh
but you wouldn't (or bend it to sound that way since you have this *need* for being "right" all the time :PPP)
gcilou
CatQuest: ah well -9 C is really cold for the southern US ;)
agentsim joined the channel
CatQuest
well *that* is true. very very true,
it's wtf indeed
outher us is like.. holy hell close to mexico
gcilou
yup
CatQuest
it's like if it snows in spain (and not on the mountains)
UmkaDK has quit
gcilou
CatQuest: our summers get to 46 C so -9 is too cold for us
CatQuest
wtf 46 that's higher tna body.. oh wait is that farenhight?
gcilou
no it's 115 F :)
Yes much higher than body temp
CatQuest
wait 46 c?
holy crap
-9, than all the things that live down the is gonna die :(
like cactus
gcilou
we actually don't have much cactus around here. But yeah the trees are dying
kepstin
nah, trees are a hardy lot, they'll mostly be fine.
maybe just confused :)
CatQuest
dude kepstin this is trees used to +40C, they *will* dye at -9
erh, die not dye
kepstin
he, where I live, we get summer-winter temperature swings of around -35°C to +35°C (at the very extremes - like coldest day of year to hottest)
gcilou
I mean it's mostly the people who are confused because we're used to seeing green not brown
kepstin
well, stuff turns brown during dry periods/droughts and recovers, right?

brown? you mean white. snow right?
that reminds me, CallerNo6 fill me inn: did it actually ever rain at all or is cali still thirsting to death?
CallerNo6
CatQuest, this year is reasonably wet (at least in the north), but the real problem is that people aren't adjusting to the "new normal".
CatQuest
"this year" = 2017 or?
I think I need a longer explo
gcilou
we don't get much snow around here :) and kepstin sometimes they recover and other times our trees just die because too hot + not enough rain
lazka has quit
CallerNo6
CatQuest, "this rainy season" I should have said
CatQuest
"rainy seaason" is like uh temperate winter, right
and dry season is like summer
or like rainy is fallwinter and dry is springsummer
o half of fall and half of sping and all of winter and same with the other part except summer
CallerNo6
yes
CatQuest
you know what i mean
yes!
CallerNo6
to everything
it's all true, every word of it.
CatQuest
alright. so what are people doing wrong
CallerNo6
Acting like the population isn't growing.
CatQuest
something something we need more gays something
CallerNo6
Acting like aquifers are bottomless.
CatQuest
what is an aquifier? water.. thingy?
CallerNo6
yes
CatQuest
all of it is true
gcilou remembers a satirical story from the summer that California was buying some of Arkansas's excess water
you should have aquaducts not aquafiers
CallerNo6
Acting like we'll have the same snow levels when/if the average temperature rises.
(snow is our *real* reservoir)
CatQuest
permasnow has been melting her too, but apparently recently the isbre has grown oddly.
kepstin
yeah, places that rely on glacier-fed rivers for water supply are keeping a real careful eye on mountain ice levels
CatQuest
well that was last winter. i dunno i think it must have melted this year
s/year/winter
glacier was the word yes
kepstin
that's part of the california problem - the mountain ice isn't permanent any more there
CallerNo6
I blame palm trees. Why do people plant non-native, water-abusing, ugly trees?
it's like one that thing that mst.. atleast I dunno all over the owrld but possibly accoiate with cali :O
LordSputnik
2 more BB GCI tasks added :) I'm planning to add one more after this in a few days' time
CatQuest
yay LordSputnik
Leo_Verto: XD@

kepstin
reminds me that there's a running joke about vancouver (canada west coast) film studios - there's a single palm tree in a pot in the city that just gets moved around from set to set to make it look like "california" when filming scenes set in US.
samj1912
bitmap: more id3 incompatibilities discovered :P
kepstin
iirc there was a ... comedy? movie a while back set in vancouver where they showed the tree getting pushed around on a cart.
CatQuest
haha
gcilou
the first time I went to California I was confused because it looked like Florida to me
samj1912
we really should add more tests for picard :P
kepstin
(it's a joke, because palm trees actually grow reasonably well in vancouver due to the mild weather)
Leo_Verto
samj1912, don't say that kind of stuff around here! you might be "volunteered" to do it
samj1912
I am doing it :P
kepstin
is this a general mutagen issue or something specific to picard?
samj1912
picard
kepstin really likes using mutagen in his python stuff, it's really way nicer than any other tag library
mutagen just straight out deletes the inconsistencies :P
rahulr has quit
and leaves to individual users how they want to handle it
CatQuest
Leo_Verto: samj1912 has already "groked" how meb works :D
kepstin
i'm doing some stuff to make test files for replaygain tags, and I'm thinking I might have to add a few new frames to it to support some of the really weird/old ones
but it does let me do crazy things like APEv2 tags on MP3 files which some replaygain tools did :/
samj1912
hehe yeah :P no wonder picard has an option to clear APEv2 tags from mp3 :P
