I'd say we should have at least one Perl based idea.

maybe we need to have some sort of disclaimer on the ideas page: "Don't be afraid of perl, we can help you!"

There might be some weirdo outcast student out there who just can't get enough of Perl and is disappointed that no GSoC org.s will let them use that language.

the page needs to be ready for google to be convinced we did our job. one look at the page says we did.

then when the student application period starts, then we need to be ready with all the ideas present.

but we still have some time before then
