the getting started page is not a clue where to get started from?
nikunj_
No I mean I am not able to figure out how to implement my programming knowledge to contribute on github

Hello folks
SothoTalKer
look who is back
pingupingu
as per my discussion yesterday, running ./script/compile_resources.sh before npm install messes up the css/js/web interface. any pointers on how I can generate them (ui) correctly?
hey SothoTalKer
SothoTalKer
it's me XD
Freso
nikunj_: Did you read the getting started page?
pingupingu
I have tried npm install; compile_resources.sh again but no dice.. it is not generating the css/js files, bitmap any pointers?
nikunj_, so what you are saying is, you have experience in algorithms but not development?
pingupingu
ohh how did that page escape me! thanks Freso
Quesito
hi pingupingu! I had just sent you an email! welcome back! ;)
Freso
pingupingu: Np. ;)
SothoTalKer
Freso: i'm allowed to
pingupingu
seems everything is up to stuff.. just need to sort out the javascript/css generation and I can be on my way to test matching performance again :)

Leo_Verto : Can you suggest me where to start from
pingupingu
Oh Hi Quesito too lazy to open up my email now lol
CallerNo6
nikunj_, if Development/Summer_of_Code/Getting_started isn't enough to help you get started, please re-read the last two sentences :-)

You're doing good work, CallerNo6!
CallerNo6 admits that at the beginning, it's hard to figure out how to ask the right question(s)l.
nikunj_
i just want to know how to switch to development from algo
I have no problem understanding getting started page
SothoTalKer
you create a github account, fork a project and edit the code so that it does the things you want

can anyone suggest some projects which would have some easy issues in which I can contribute
CallerNo6
nikunj_, do you mean specifically MetaBrainz projects?
nikunj_
Yes , I have good experience in python so I was particularly thinking of ListenBrainz
But the problem is I am not able to understand the issues
Freso
nikunj_: Note that the "getting started" page specifically lists some non-development/code things to do before actually starting to code.
Leo_Verto
you should probably start by contributing data to MusicBrainz, seeing as most of the other projects are related to it in some way or another
Freso
CallerNo6: Maybe the "Get involved" section should go before the "Get inspired" one?
Since the "Get inspired" part asks them to look for tickets for software they may not be familiar with until they "Get involved"?

CallerNo6
Freso, yeah, I went back and forth on that. "Get involved" kinda depends on which project(s) you're interested in.
Freso
Well, unless you're doing something on with BookBrainz you need to deal with MBIDs and MB data.
So you need to understand at some level what the different entities are.
