hello, As issue CB-237 states we can't import data locally. Is there a way around this? I have been stuck on this since quite a while.

Hmm, I run my local dev copy of CB using a typical virtualenv setup :p.. Try pinging the mentor for resolution. I don't think I will be of help with docker

I don't have a solution for the data dump issue right now
does beta.mb.org use the old search server as backend, or is it using mbssss already? if the former, is there some dev/sandbox instance running against mbssss?
