I believe so - first digit of the third block is a 4

alastairp: yes, I know this, but I dunno if *all* of our IDs are 4, maybe some old ones were 3 or something

I don't think it even matters, but

(like, just matching a bit more conservatively and not expecting a 4 should be perfectly fine)

Hi all. :) Just wanted to throw this out there, but the CFP for OSCAL was extended. If there's anyone from MusicBrainz / MetaBrainz, it would be awesome to see someone give a talk or run a workshop. :) https://twitter.com/OSCALconf/status/842660588618…

Gentlecat: Could integrating the WYSIWYG editor https://simplemde.com/ be alright for CB-95?
reosarevok: Checked, there are many UUIDs v3 still in use, but most of MBIDs are UUIDs v4.
2017-03-17 07653, 2017
Freso
reosarevok: You could make an SQL query to check all gids for whether they match? UUID versions don't seem to be "time based" (e.g., "version 4" being newer than "version 3") but rather method based (v4 is random, v3 is "namespace name-based").

https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4122 is dated 2005, so it wouldn't have been around when MB was started though. :/ I can't seem to find any reference in it to an older spec.

There's a related ISO/IEC from 1996... but I'm not about to pay to look at it. 🙄
what are the benefits of installing the musicbrainz server? is it for storing my own collection?
2017-03-17 07642, 2017
Freso
Av: Depends on your usecase. If you just want to make a collection to keep track of what you have, you might as well use musicbrainz.org.

Av: If you're a researcher or you're developing an application using MusicBrainz data, having the data available locally can vastly speed up your development time.

If you're feeding a lot of stuff into a program like Picard or beets it might also be nice to have a local server, so you're not restricted by the 1 request/second ratelimit.

But again, the VM is several gigabyte. And depending on how technically minded you are, setting the server up (VM/docker or "raw") might be more effort and time than what you'll gain in the other end.

hello, regarding my PR on CB-174. I have been successful extracting strings from sourced js file but can't put in template output.
