Don't suppose there's something I can set so that the API responds to all my calls as if the server was busy so I can try if my code for handling that is working? :)
this is after downgrading to TURNSTEP/DBD-Pg-3.5.3.tar.gz. maybe it's a better idea to grab a tarball or use a tag instead of master?

ruaok: I was working on LB-157 and I can't come up with an example of a bad listen to use for the test. The listen that had caused the error when we found it was due to an older version of influx-py which is fixed now.
if we don't know how to make it fail, then let's put a big FAT ERROR on it. and close the bug, stating we don't know how to check for it and that it should not be an issue anymore

I don't understand. Do we not want to write the "only push good listens" recursion anymore?
2017-05-18 13816, 2017

The difficult part is writing a test for it, I think we should still have the recursion in there though

if you have the code already then keep it by all means. close the bug saying that we can't add a proper test for it.

spike is still under trusty, i would like to upgrade it, but i wonder if it wouldn't be better to just rent another server, move stuff to it, and resign spike, after all this is the whole point of renting servers at hetzner. It means we'll get newer hardware, and have much shorter downtimes.
2017-05-18 13824, 2017
zas
also this server isn't currently monitored as we do for other servers (being "outside" historically)

I've been collecting some data for a challenge that we're running
2017-05-18 13859, 2017
alastairp
I have about 400gb of acousticbrainz files in my home
2017-05-18 13814, 2017
alastairp
we have the data in archives now, I can delete the original files
2017-05-18 13834, 2017
zas
so basically 2Tb is enough ?
2017-05-18 13837, 2017
ruaok
my main thought on this is that AB isn't dockerized yet.
2017-05-18 13841, 2017
alastairp
ahhhh, that';s a good question
2017-05-18 13851, 2017
alastairp
let me collect my thoughts a bit
2017-05-18 13856, 2017
ruaok
thus it wouldn't work well with our gateways.
2017-05-18 13804, 2017
alastairp
soon on my list is to put AB in docker. Once that's done, we can move it into the fold
2017-05-18 13825, 2017
zas
we can have direct access to servers, no need to pass through gateways, it is all about firewalls
2017-05-18 13825, 2017
ruaok
got ETA?
2017-05-18 13842, 2017
alastairp
for now, 2tb is enough, but. we're going to have a new version of the extractor soon, which will make even more data
2017-05-18 13847, 2017
ruaok
ah. so, if it isn't horrendous to run AB as it is now, then I am all for it.
2017-05-18 13859, 2017
ruaok
I'm hoping to move off babar soon as well
2017-05-18 13802, 2017
alastairp
and we will probably do frame-level data, so disk usage is going to skyrocket
2017-05-18 13812, 2017
alastairp
which means at this point we should host all the data in bigquery anyway
2017-05-18 13825, 2017
alastairp
ETA is probably "before summer" - so 2-3 months
2017-05-18 13827, 2017

i think we can just move the software and data to another server, and do a dns switch, but it has to be planned with the help of alastair

I'm meeting with ruaok tomorrow about some stuff
2017-05-18 13810, 2017

2017-05-18 13826, 2017

2017-05-18 13827, 2017

I will run some numbers to get some statistics
2017-05-18 13840, 2017

yeah, we have already talked about this exact topic
2017-05-18 13856, 2017
