bukwurm: oooh, graphs and stuff :) Looks good, and importers are something I'd like to see :)

(but I'm not the one picking, so :D )
Leo_Verto
Thanks!
Last week I started work on my SpamBrainz proposal, talked with yvanzo about it and should be able to get my first draft done this week.
I also finally managed to get my ListenBrainz dev setup running, thanks to ruaok and iliekcomputers helping me with a really weird permission error. Already sent a minor PR for LB and working on more.
Freso
(Only uditgulati0[m] and CatQuest still up — anyone else who wants to give reviews, this is last chance to let me know.)
reosarevok
Ok, I guess at least this dude is not a shill for the spammer business ^
ruaok
\ø/
lol
Leo_Verto
That's it for me.
CatQuest: go!
CatQuest
:o
Been doing some huge instrument editings, that is, I haven't really been closing a lot of INST tickets, but I have been reordering and fixing instruments we already have, esp replacing the obsolete "child of" relationship with "type of " or "related instrument" or just changing links to more appropriate instruments.
Leo_Verto
:P
CatQuest
Work is not done and, should your favourite pet instrument need some love, go ahead and create an improvement ticket! (however keep in mind that the more information you give on that ticket the easier it is for me to work on it.)
created a feedback for chhavi!
had some connection issues (sorry everyone) I phoned my very helpful ISP and we reset stuff.
seems to not make much difference however, so maybe it's my router :/

last is uditgulati0[m] ?

Hello everyone!
This week I worked on my GSoC proposal. Did some research on plugin structures of different media players
Worked on LB-325. Also, alastairp helped me with LB-322
I guess we were leaning towards the end of the month, yes?
samj1912
mid would be nic(warm)er
iliekcomputers
The end of the month please
I will most probably have uni stuff during mid September
ruaok
samj1912: possibly too hot still.
I'm in favor of 29 & 30.
outsidecontext has quit
does anyone have a concrete objection to 29 and 30?
iliekcomputers
Should be okay if everything goes ideally
ruaok
going once.
samj1912 would possibly not be able to join at 29/30
Freso
samj1912: How so?
ruaok
anyone else not able to join?
oct 6/7?
samj1912
oh wait, is that end of september of october?
ruaok
sept.
samj1912
oh, work then
*works

samj1912: 🙈

ruaok
ok, let's call it then. 29 & 30th it is.
Freso: back to you.
Freso
Alright.
yvanzo
smsunarto: DST is not an excuse ;)
zas
29 & 30 sept ?

samj1912
yvanzo: wrong s-guy :P

Ctrl-Q and Ctrl-A are too close to each other.
chhavi_: LB user survey
Go.
chhavi_
Helo again. Nothing much, but we are going to ideate on potential graphs for ListenBrainz. It would be cool if everyone can take a minute and fill this form to give us ideas on what graphs will actually make sense.
chhavi_, Leo_Verto: btw, everyone seems to love user studies, write a short paper on the MB one and get it published
samj1912
yvanzo: XD
Freso
Everybody, shh.
CatQuest
reosarevok: chhavi_ Leo_Verto yes!
Leo_Verto
reosarevok: that sounds like a fantastic idea, I'd just have to figure out how to write a paper .P
CatQuest
well normally you'd *use* paper
reosarevok
Leo_Verto: if you wait until you know how to do it, you'll be finishing your master and still not be ready
Freso
This is just a friendly PSA: Europe will switch to "summertime" on Sunday, so for non Europeans, the meeting will be an hour earlier for the next ~half a year.
fin.
reosarevok
(not speaking from experience or anything)
CatQuest
reosarevok: hah
reosarevok
Freso: already? Sigh. DST is stupid.
Freso
(Unless you also switch to summertime, it'll be 17:00 UTC from next week anyway.)
Thanks for your time everyone!

hi samj1912
Leo_Verto
kind of an addendum but reo linked this paper a couple days ago which used MB as part of a backend-agnostic question-answering system https://arxiv.org/abs/1803.00832
samj1912
so first things first - I can see both of you have decided to make a proposal on the same idea, just giving you guys a heads up that we will be selecting only one of those so it would be nice to have a backup
Leo_Verto
I'd say that makes a pretty good case for getting a SPAQRL endpoint back up :P
ruaok
well, barry is no longer interested in hosting it.
but the wikidata people are going bonkers doing cool queries with sqarkl and we're being left out of the fun
I'd like to find a solution for it.

wikidata queries :D~
so much dataporn in my twittar feed

secondly, I can see a lot of similarities in those proposals (not that that's a bad thing) , but that would just make us choose the person who has more clearly thought out the entire process, which I find both are currently lacking - both of you have decided to spend just 1 week implementing the PicardPlugin class, which IMHO should prolly take you a bit longer. Also you should give it a bit more thought on how that implementation will
look like, I am not satisfied with either (both of them seem to make the same basic mistakes)
zas had another Picard idea btw
zas: wanna explain?
Leo_Verto
yvanzo: do you remember who the other students wanting to do SpamBrainz are?
cover art seems to be another area where picard could use some nice improvements
ruaok
but really, all of that can be condensed into saying: "query for recording ids given a cluster id".
Freso
bitmap, zas: https://meta.discourse.org/t/make-discourse-pla... is where the discussion about the issue happens on the Discourse side. No one seems to know how to get in touch with any IA/WM people there.
LordSputnik
bukwurm: just had a quick look at your proposal. Looking forward to reading it later :)
ruaok
you need less detail there and more high level overview of how the algorithm you propose will work.
bukwurm
LordSputnik: Ok. Thank you!
bitmap
oh, because javascript? that's what I feared
bukwurm
:)
kartikeyaSh_ircc
ruaok: i want to ask about cluster_id field https://github.com/metabrainz/messybrainz-serve... here it's an UUID field as I've also done in the third table in example. I don't understand how serial field might work for cluster_id
