CatQuest: In the RG feedback, point 1. How do you expand a release using bitmap's script? I thought that was for expanding a release group..
it's the same way as a release group, on the rartist pge you can expand release grous, on the rg page you cna expand the releases
2018-04-12 10221, 2018
D4RK-PH0ENiX has quit
2018-04-12 10231, 2018
CatQuest
infact you cna on the artist page expand first the release group and *then *the releases
2018-04-12 10255, 2018
CatQuest
and click a "edit" link to go straight to the edit page
2018-04-12 10219, 2018
CatQuest
(also edit to go straight to editing RG)

I'd suggest you install it and try it, it cna explain itself what it does better thna I can :D

Expand the releases into?
2018-04-12 10225, 2018
CatQuest
tracklist
2018-04-12 10250, 2018
CatQuest
also a bit of info about cd tracks date release artist
2018-04-12 10250, 2018
chhavi_
Aah okay. I will try using it too :)
2018-04-12 10255, 2018
CatQuest
definitly!
2018-04-12 10232, 2018
CatQuest
anyway it can definitely be improved (by having more information, one thing i miss is lable info in the rlease group's releases but)
2018-04-12 10240, 2018
CatQuest
also yo ucna expand releases on label pages etc
2018-04-12 10247, 2018
CatQuest
definitly try it
2018-04-12 10216, 2018
CatQuest
i am so used otit, it's nuts whne i go to a machine without it instlaled i am liek "wait why can't i do...?" since i'm so used to it :D
2018-04-12 10218, 2018
chhavi_
About point 3. I do like the idea of showing bigger cover art of releases, and choosing one as default. The tracklist will also be that of the default.
2018-04-12 10245, 2018
CatQuest
if we must. i still fai lt osee tracklsit on RG as usefull. i feel a bit liek we're trying ot overthing what RG is used for
2018-04-12 10257, 2018
chhavi_
What if the default release, doesn't have a cover art/tracklist?
2018-04-12 10225, 2018
CatQuest
rg is a "list of releases" just as a release is "list of tracks"
2018-04-12 10234, 2018
CatQuest
exactly, what if?
2018-04-12 10237, 2018
chhavi_
Well, let's be nice to people who like the idea of having it. Atleast if it doesn't hamper the UX in any way.
2018-04-12 10258, 2018
CatQuest
i suppose. as long as I can prefrence it into oblivion :D
2018-04-12 10211, 2018
reosarevok
Well, right now we do have the option to choose a specific release cover to be the main cover
2018-04-12 10224, 2018
chhavi_
Hi reosarevok :D
2018-04-12 10225, 2018
reosarevok
Not sure if that should be the same as the "main tracklist" if we add that or not
2018-04-12 10227, 2018
CatQuest
but you can't chose a non-coverart release as coverart for RG
2018-04-12 10203, 2018
reosarevok
Sure, that wouldn't make much sense. I'd expect you also can't choose a "no tracklist" one as the tracklist :D
2018-04-12 10205, 2018
CatQuest
so why not disallow "non-tracklist" for that
2018-04-12 10219, 2018
CatQuest
yea :D
2018-04-12 10238, 2018
chhavi_
I think that's making it a little too complicated. Should be simple. :)
2018-04-12 10253, 2018
CatQuest
yes?
2018-04-12 10220, 2018
CatQuest
disallowing non coverart non tracklsit ones and having "defualt" be chosen by th same thing is making it simple?
2018-04-12 10244, 2018
CatQuest
i don't much care about cover art on RG either tbh
2018-04-12 10247, 2018
chhavi_
Let me think about it more.
2018-04-12 10202, 2018
chhavi_ puts in the notes to discuss more about later.
2018-04-12 10216, 2018
CatQuest
infact several of the things yo ucna only edit on rg i'd love to be albe to do fro mthe release edit screens
2018-04-12 10217, 2018
reosarevok
I mean, 99% of the cases, default = earliest works
2018-04-12 10227, 2018
CatQuest
true
2018-04-12 10251, 2018
CatQuest
but that's often for early things. now adays you can have digital+vinyl+cd? released simultaniously
2018-04-12 10230, 2018
CatQuest
and what about 2 cd singles in the same rg that are separate. I'd except them both to be in the "default" tracklist
2018-04-12 10242, 2018
chhavi_
I think tracklist discussion can be taken to community forum as well. I will like to know if it's worth investing so much screen estate in it :p
2018-04-12 10251, 2018
CatQuest
basically this is why I am sceptical to it. since adding a tracklist here over complicates RG's A LOT
2018-04-12 10259, 2018
CatQuest
definitly!
2018-04-12 10202, 2018
chhavi_
CatQuest: can we move to next point? I have a few more questions :)
2018-04-12 10229, 2018
CatQuest
sure!
2018-04-12 10212, 2018
chhavi_
point 4 is relationship section. I understand this section is majorly important to appear in overview tab for RG and releases?
2018-04-12 10225, 2018
SothoTalKer
tracklist for RG sounds like the "master" tracklist on discogs (:
2018-04-12 10241, 2018
CatQuest
yes
2018-04-12 10252, 2018
CatQuest
almost more so for Rg thna releases if possibly
2018-04-12 10255, 2018
CatQuest
but yes
2018-04-12 10220, 2018
chhavi_
We didn't put it on artitst page (just thinking in terms of consistency). Should it have been there as well?
2018-04-12 10227, 2018
SothoTalKer
it depends on the relationship, no?
2018-04-12 10244, 2018
chhavi_
SothoTalKer: hi there :)
2018-04-12 10257, 2018
SothoTalKer
hello.
2018-04-12 10255, 2018
SothoTalKer
the most prominent relationships right now are URL relationships for release/release groups/artist and are displayed in the sidebar
2018-04-12 10255, 2018
CatQuest
things like "member of" on groups is something I'd like on an overview page.. maybe
2018-04-12 10225, 2018
SothoTalKer
all other relationships are neatly hidded on the "relationship" tab now.
2018-04-12 10229, 2018
CatQuest
could have "current members" and th other ones in a colapsable list
2018-04-12 10239, 2018
CatQuest
yea. hidden
2018-04-12 10244, 2018
chhavi_
CatQuest: we do have the current members in the sidebar for artists in the redesign :)
2018-04-12 10216, 2018
CatQuest
yep!
2018-04-12 10251, 2018
CatQuest
older group members/groups the artist was in but not currently maybe in a collapsed list underneat?
2018-04-12 10221, 2018
CatQuest
a lot of these als ohave no date attached, seeing them utomatically might uh "call to actino for improving" ?:D
one could split the URLs up into more logical lists
2018-04-12 10228, 2018
SothoTalKer
like, anything official by the artist like homepage and social media is listed differently than any other database we link to, like any bibliographical authority.
Recent Picrad tickets are mostly unreproducible crashes or non-bugs, so just do a quick review of last reported issues and comment if needed
