the problem is the clusters that get generated -- now you need code for creating clusters and all that.

I suppose you could just implement the minimalist bits needed to make the first clusters.

Other queries are not as complex.

Applied edit count should probably be accessed through a view.

Most of other queries are computed against a value directly stored in the database.
