Eh. On one hand yes, on the other hand I disagree that we should keep bugs unfixed in hopes GCI does
(now, small *improvements*... :) )
CatQuest
+1 to that
reosarevok
And brought the old genres PR up to the latest master, hopefully that can be merged soonish, although there might be some last small changes to make
Next... Freso maybe?

So Google Code-in was a significant factor in my life last week.
I finished up our application, so we'll see tomorrow whether we're in.

Freso: we will never run out of small bugs ;)

I've also continued reaching out to mentors, both within our own org., but I've also reached out to Mixxx and had a great talk with some of their devs earlier today about making working together to improve their MeB integration(s).
CatQuest
ooh neat!

I looked into Mastodon briefly after being prompted by Leo_Verto, but decided not to do anything on behalf of MetaBrainz in that regard at this point.
(Mastodon seems to be a distributed "microblogging"/social network platform (á la Twitter); the distributed part means we can't "reserve" our name(s) at a single spot, so it seems like there's no point at this point.)
I reviewed and published CatQuest's instrument update post and finally got around to looking at chhavi_'s post (will come out this Wednesday).
CatQuest
oooh :O looking forward to hat :D
Freso
Other than that, being around and about and poking at reports/flags.
fin!
Mr_Monkey: Go!
Mr_Monkey
Yo !

(People still up: bitmap, zas, ruaok, yvanzo, iliekcomputers – anyone else, please let me know ASAP. :))
Mr_Monkey
I integrated everyone’s comments on the proposed BookBrainz roadmap (thanks everyone!) to have a clearer idea of the goals. If you missed it, you can find it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wStZLaIwjDM...
I continued prodding the website code and testing the new relationship editor, that LordSputnik will be unleashing to production after this meeting, with me watching to learn the current process.
I also started digging into the current schema and future API, prompted by being involved in a discussion with OpenLibrary for cooperation and mutual integration, with hopes of motivating a larger open network of literature resources.
And finally, signed up for mentoring GCI students in relation with BookBrainz, and even got my first promotion to admin.

You're doing good work, monkey!
Mr_Monkey
Yay !
yvanzo
Thanks Mr_Monkey!

Mr_Monkey: "promotion" - I like your positive attitude. ;)
yvanzo was lurking at BB roadmap.
yvanzo
Mostly worked on React rewrite, reviewing PRs, triaging issues, delaying beta.
Also took a close look at session management after WS incident handled by zas.
Mr_Monkey
And a general note: I'm very grateful for the support you've all showed me so far and the information sharing.
bitmap
what was the WS incident?
yvanzo
Mr_Monkey: You may be interested in ongoing work with Design system for Medium-term.
zas
bitmap: weird errors caused by one abuser, IP blocked
yvanzo
bitmap: someone sending a lot of request at once, generating session error in logs.
bitmap
ah...
yvanzo
bitmap: We already have some kind of CSRF protection, but we should probably improve that.
That's all from me, zas?
zas
usual maintenance, plenty of upgrades
plus quite a lot of work on Picard issues, we have a burst of new tickets we had to manage
porting a bunch of fabric tools to fabric 2
fin. ruaok ?
ruaok
k
last week was a bit of onboarding of Mr_Monkey and giving him access and things of the like.
Freso
(Only bitmap and iliekcomputers left on my list. Anyone else who wants to give reviews, please speak up now!)

I had a couple of conference calls, nothing terribly interesting.
I also helped out a bit on the AB migration, which is still in progress. data imports take long for projects like AB. oh well.
then lots of random bits of summit prep -- ordering t-shirts and other things.
I also brought the vacbot to the office and vacuumed everything.
fin.
iliekcomputers:
go!
iliekcomputers
hi.
CatQuest
hi!
Mr_Monkey
I can confirm Vacbot sucks.
iliekcomputers
I was working on moving AB to our central hetzner infrastructure this week.
the process was supposed to be pretty smooth, but yeah, we came across some bugs...
ruaok
for once, sucks == doing job right. :)
iliekcomputers
it's still going on.
CatQuest
"might take 10-15 minutes" famous last words
ruaok
iliekcomputers: that was no reference to your work by any means. :)
CatQuest
;)
iliekcomputers
lol
anyways, i opened PRs to AB, did dumps, moved them around and imported them to places.
that's it, still waiting for an import to finish..
fin.
Freso
Only bitmap left. :)
bitmap
hello
I mostly worked more on converting the tricky parts of MusicBrainz::Server::Plugin::Diff which diff HTML, i.e. the release label and relationship diffs, to React
wrote some tests to compare the TT and React output for those to make sure the output is identical, like we have for the entity link macros
unrelated, fixed an i18n issue in some of the new React components
and caught up on testing/reviewing a bunch of open PRs, but there are still more to go :)
fin. back to Freso
Freso
Alright. No one has said they were also up for reviews, so onwards to…
Freso: Google Code-in!

Oh hey, me again!
Just really a quick update: the org. application deadline has passed—and we made it!

The accepted organisations should get published tomorrow, so we'll see then whether we'll be accepted for another round.
