what exactly does putting "+ Send" on a type indicate to the borrow checker? does it define a constraint, that borrow checker enforces?
putting it on, fixes a "FOO cannot be sent between threads safely" issue, but no other code is changed. so i don't understand
whoops wrong channel, sorry!

If you would like to use the VM to do development instead of using it as a simple database slave, you'll need to edit lib/DBDefs.pm and set REPLICATION_TYPE to RT_STANDALONE, where can i find this lib directory

I wondered how we best should handle the tickets. previously I had set done tickets to "release pending", because sometimes there was confusion about what "fixed" meant if it was not yet in released picard
but I personally find this difficult to keep track of, I'd rather have set them to "fixed", the release version indicates the rest
what's your thought on this?
zas
i tend to prefer to set them to "fixed", with proper Picard version

george: i think the issue lies with psql, the command cant even be runned
You'd have to be connected to the docker instance before you could interact with it at all
zas
outsidecontext: ok
Jaykin
ah i see
but i cant run no web containers, unless the website states it as an example
outsidecontext
zas: I also tried making the necessary Picard website changes more manageable, I hope that makes sense
zas
yup, i saw, looks good to me :)

Hi, I'm Antara, GCI participant this year. I sometimes have a lot of doubts while completing tasks, so I'll probably get to be one of the more frequent (if confused) users here :)
george
antara: welcome :)
antara
Also, for GCI, do the types of tasks you do matter while being considered? I can code, but not very well, and I much prefer research/ documentation tasks to coding

antara: hi! Welcome to IRC!
Re the type of tasks, I generally prefer students to do a wide variety of tasks before carving out a niche of the type of tasks they like best. Also, general advice: we emphasize the quality of tasks over quantity a lot.

Freso: finally managed to get that test task sent 👍

thank you for the welcome!
iliekcomputers: Okay, I'll be sure to keep that in mind :) I definitely plan on trying tasks in different fields before narrowing down
Freso
george: Nice. Will look at it shortly. :)
antara: Welcome to IRC. :) Did you come here due to the new message below the task descriptions?

antara
Freso: not really, though I did notice the message - the mentor (CatQuest) of some of my tasks recommended I join IRC, and I've been meaning to for quite a while because I have a lot of questions in general
