what exactly does putting "+ Send" on a type indicate to the borrow checker? does it define a constraint, that borrow checker enforces?

putting it on, fixes a "FOO cannot be sent between threads safely" issue, but no other code is changed. so i don't understand

If you would like to use the VM to do development instead of using it as a simple database slave, you'll need to edit lib/DBDefs.pm and set REPLICATION_TYPE to RT_STANDALONE, where can i find this lib directory

am i supposed to create a root account

The vagrant user has sudo

You might need to attach yourself to the docker container if you're directly connected to the vm

I wondered how we best should handle the tickets. previously I had set done tickets to "release pending", because sometimes there was confusion about what "fixed" meant if it was not yet in released picard

but I personally find this difficult to keep track of, I'd rather have set them to "fixed", the release version indicates the rest

what's your thought on this?

i tend to prefer to set them to "fixed", with proper Picard version

Hi, I'm Antara, GCI participant this year. I sometimes have a lot of doubts while completing tasks, so I'll probably get to be one of the more frequent (if confused) users here :)

Also, for GCI, do the types of tasks you do matter while being considered? I can code, but not very well, and I much prefer research/ documentation tasks to coding

Re the type of tasks, I generally prefer students to do a wide variety of tasks before carving out a niche of the type of tasks they like best. Also, general advice: we emphasize the quality of tasks over quantity a lot.
