My opinion is that either the primary name field should be the native name, or we should just drop the primary name field and only have aliases - but this is dependent on having user setting & coding done to show a localized name from aliases.
an area is an area regardless of the name of the area so entities are fine. I guess it's more of a display issue. Could it be fixed with the interface update we'll have soon-ish ? Does it require additional coding ? I don't know.

aliases are good to find the entity... evemn if viewing an artist page in french, it'll say Quebec City (and not Québec as it should for someone using MB in french)
