for a musicbrainz mirror server do I need to re-run the bin/reindex daily?
ruaok
madmouser1: only if you want to keep it updated.
keep the search indexes updated, that is.
madmouser1
ok so cron it for daily and all done
ruaok
yes, but the reindexing is really intensive. it takes quite a lot fo computing resources.
madmouser1
yup, I'm timing it now (on first run)
ruaok
iliekcomputers: the container keeps bouncing. a small tip -- things hardly ever magically fix themselves. if something seems like it did, it will break again as soon as you're sleeping soundly.
madmouser1
gave it 16Gb or RAM and 2 vCPUs (might increase to see if it makes a diff)
ruaok has no idea how containers can know when we sleep soundly
ruaok
might work -- depends on your needs.
CatQuest
amCap1712: much musch easier :D
even if typoes abound :DDDD
let's continue in here
amCap1712
yeah
CatQuest
but it's fine if like. for linking to the apk you do something like "KassOtsimine: linktothe.apk"
for that ping the phone so i don't have to go searching for the link
amCap1712
ok
CatQuest
on the phone
madmouser1
tnx ruaok
ruaok
np
CatQuest
(you can just link the apk directly in #metabrainz I mean. my phone gets pinged with everymentino of that name :D)

no worries. that was more a general philisophical comment. good luck with your drama!

yvanzo: on williams, /var/lib/docker/volumes/musicbrainz-data-dumps/_data/20171103-173223 looks old; can you clean up old stuff before we backup ?

ruaok
Mr_Monkey: you about?
Mr_Monkey
ruaok: right here !
ruaok
sweet.
I'm pondering how to highlight the "your listens" in the LB interface.
right now we have the right hand "user" menu that has all the users' features in it.
and it feels very weird to me to move the "your listens" to the main toolbar.
don't get me wrong, I am not arguing against highlighting the "your listens" -- I just don't know how to do it without wrecking the UX.
Mr_Monkey
From my point of view, after an initial setup of your account, the main thing you want to see is that page (and follow users coming soon), so having it hidden is breaking the UX
ruaok
agreed.
Mr_Monkey
I don't think having your listens separate from the user submenu is a big deal. Maybe it would be worth rename from "Your listens" to something else, if that's what's bothering you?
ruaok
actually it is the wrath of Mr_Monkey that is bothering me.
Mr_Monkey
Hah :D
ruaok
I just dont want to make the UX worse. I don't have strong feelings about any of this, just a strong desire to improve it.
maybe this is best sat upon until we can work in the office.
Mr_Monkey
Wanna give it a go together tomorrow at the office?
ruaok
tomorrow is good, but I need to leave the office come 18h. works?

Mr_Monkey
Clarification: does moving "your listens" feel weird to you because its a user feature and should be with other user features, or because "your listens" seems out of place in the main nav?
Sure thing
ruaok
the former, but a bit of both, actually.
a convo on the whiteboard should solve this quickly, methinks.
Mr_Monkey
Cool

Mr_Monkey: thanks for the nudge on PR#500. will read now.
ayush

I just received the results of the AutoEditor election, and I want to thank everyone who helped vote me in. I consider it an honor. Thank-you.
Freso
rdswift: It's an honour to have you aboard. :)
(Aboard? On board?)
reosarevok
Congrats rdswift!
CatQuest
rdswift: congrats!!!!!

Freso: Y remove rob and zas topics?
Freso
CatQuest: I didn't. Check /topic again.

oh I C
well I hope we ca nall be quick with reviews today. I'm tired but I want to tlak about both amcap and reo opics
topics
meeting is in like 10 mins no?
Freso
I usually look at the listed items before a meeting and will shuffle them around if I think that some of them are more important or urgent than others. E.g., the MBS-9557 one can easily wait until next week, so there's no reason to talk about that if that means that we end up not having time to talk about the rest.
People up for review: Freso, reosarevok, bitmap, zas, ruaok, yvanzo, iliekcomputers, Mr_Monkey, CatQuest – anyone else, please let me know explicitly ASAP.
I received a last minute meeting note from bitmap, so bitmap, go:
CatQuest
amCap1712 maybe?
Mr_Monkey
Hi everyone !
Freso
bitmap says:
"""
Last week I investigated an issue reported on the forums about our sitemaps not updating...turns out, we weren't rsyncing them to the gateways. That's fixed now at least. I made it so the script actually logs an error if that happens again.
Also worked on adding CORS support to /oauth2/, since we didn't have a working auth flow for browser apps as compared to /ws/1. Kepstin reported this and tested my patch with his ISRC submission tool.
Other than that, spent a lot of time on code review and submitting small PRs for React/Webpack/test improvements.
Fin.

ruaok
it was really nice to have Mr_Monkey come and lend us a hand and squeeze react into LB.
it was a nice bit of cross-pollination between teams. we'll have another day of it tomorrow and hopefully we can finish the feature enough to push to beta.
CatQuest
you should deff have hack weeks more thn once a year :D it was fun to watch

in return, iliekcomputers and I will descend on BB when it comes time to move to hetzner.
if iliekcomputers and I tag mean the dockerization/consulation, we can have it in the bag in another, hopefully not 5 days, hack day.
highly recommended,
Freso
Sounds great. :)
reosarevok
Yay
ruaok
besides that i did a modicum of the usual background stuff and applying for gsoc.
fin. reosarevok, go

Hi!
code_master5
Freso: I'm also in! 🙋♂️
CatQuest
hi!
reosarevok
I kept updating PRs and sending them in in small chunks
I also sent fixes for a few small tickets
I must say I'm much happier with the current way of doing stuff where small PRs get merged reasonably fast :)
pristine_
Hello
reosarevok
And sent some "make our code more readable with eslint" PRs too
