Mr_Monkey: Thanks:) Now clear to me! I am start working in this. If any problem accures then I will reach you.
Mr_Monkey
OK :)

hi Mr_Monkey
Mr_Monkey
Hello !
alastairp
so, maybe I need your help
I started looking at moving AB to webpack yesterday
I think I have js/react/jsx working
yvanzo
reosarevok: there is no reason not to use layout picker but it may still require specific template for artist at least.
alastairp
still looking at less/bootstrap/lobes
Mr_Monkey
Did you light all the candles, and does the pentagram have the correct number of points?
alastairp
are you planning/have you done something similar with your react work on LB? or is that pending?
I copied and pasted lots of examples from a huge number of blog posts, does that count?

Struggling with less compilation, I must confess. It's currently not ideal with Webpack, but I've got my eyes on some open issues to fix it in BB. That's why we still currently don't use Webpack for production, only for dev
alastairp
ok, right
Mr_Monkey
For LB, nothing of the sort yet.
alastairp
I was _sure_ that I had used webpack before, and I finally found it in another project that I use
I even upgraded it from wp3 to 4, so spent quite some time with it
Mr_Monkey
What issue(s) are you running into?
alastairp
it has less compilation, but it doesn't compile bootstrap from source
I don't have the laptop with me, so I can't tell you. but perhaps we could sit down and look at it some time
I suspect it's an issue with paths

alastairp: It looks to me like that `require("bootstrap");` loads the NPM package. Maybe that's why it's not compiling from source. No idea why there's a bootstrap directory…
prajjwal
Hello alastairp . I have already gone through this link and was facing some problem in doing local installation. I am trying to do it and if I face some problem, i will ask here.
Mr_Monkey
Quite possibly to be able to load the variables.less file
alastairp
Mr_Monkey: to be fair, I have no plugins to load .less files yet, the error I was getting was something like "cannot find bootstrap", pointing to that line
which is going to affect many commands in LB manage.py the next time someone does a bulk upgrade of versions in requirements.txt
it's not urgent, as long as we continue pinning click 6 in the requirements
ruaok
I wonder if we should document these sorts of things in requirements.txt itself, but that doesn't work if it gets re-generated.
maybe requiresments_notes.txt ?
alastairp
yeah
ruaok
properly spelled, perhaps?
alastairp
or DEVELOPERS.md
or a Developers section in readme
I asked in the flask irc channel and the response was basically "- is easier to type than _ so you should thank us" :(
kartikpandey2
ruaok: "https://wiki.musicbrainz.org/Development/Summer_of_Code" this page don't have info for 2019 project.
this page says to refer getting started page for GSoC
And under do "some homework" section of getting started it have links for project ideas page
alastairp
kartikpandey2: (note that we don't know if metabrainz will be accepted into GSoC this year yet, it's possible that we won't finish the documents for this year until we are sure that we will go ahead with it)
ruaok
well, that is all we have right now. we need to start working on it very soon
kartikpandey2
ohh, ok ok.
alastairp
however, many of our ideas weren't worked on previously, if you're interested in looking at a task you could work out what was done in previous years and remove them from your list of considerations

we'd definitely look favourably on someone who was able to work out our tasks and see which ones have been done and which ones are still pending
not sure why you're helping my new future evil nemeisis, but ok...
alastairp
reosarevok: nice
see, ruaok is correct when he says "it's much easier to just say something wrong on the internet and wait for someone to correct you than it is to do it yourself"
ruaok
ding ding ding. :)
