I just hope they don't decide "well we're suing anyway, might as well try to get that site closed" :p

Does anybody know where I can get a copy of the ova?

reosarevok
Z903: ... the ova?
2020-06-14 16601, 2020
Z903
ya, there was an ova published for musicbrainz-server
ruaok, yvanzo: is there a reason we still have the old VM in the FTP?
2020-06-14 16634, 2020
Z903
I was hpoing to avoid using docker since I have a vm host already
2020-06-14 16636, 2020
Z903
It seems kinda pointless to use docker if im already using a vm
2020-06-14 16648, 2020
reosarevok
Sorry, but we don't maintain a separate VM install anymore since Docker is just what we use for our own stuff anyway :)
2020-06-14 16600, 2020
reosarevok
So it just maintains itself (and is generally easier / doesn't get out of date)

But it honestly might take less time than to do all the upgrading processes for an ages-old VM anyway :)

docker runs just as fine on a vm

I totally understand that docker has no issues in a vm, all i was saying was that it seems redundant. Since I am going to be spinning up an whole enviroment anyway.

Anyway thanks for the pointer, Your help has been awesome

Z903: fwiw, the ova was running docker anyway.

reosarevok: musicbrainz-docker doesn’t “maintain itself” and still needs manual updates so as to not “get out of date”.

reosarevok: there is no reason to keep the old VM in the FTP, I just forgot to remove it after updating docs, will do, thanks.

Didn't mean it needs zero updates in the future, but that we don't need to do a lot of extra stuff on top ourselves. But maybe I misremembered :)

yvanzo
yeah, dockerization made dependency management and maintenance much easier, but the vm was using it already :)
