[listenbrainz-server] alastair merged pull request #1209 (master…normalised-redirect): Create a URL namespace to redirect users to their profile page https://github.com/metabrainz/listenbrainz-server…
Hi folks, just a quick question, is it normal to experience strange behaviours on my ListenBrainz profile after wiping my previous listens?

alastairp
hi. what do you mean by strange?
2020-12-24 35956, 2020
lorenzuru
Well, there are several, but I assume that they're all based on a single bug

reosarevok: good evening. It'd be great to have you read my draft blog post if you're around. I'll wait for ~30-40 minutes to see if you're around tonight otherwise I'll post it and we can fix it in prod

If you go there you can see that right now I have a single scrobble (that it isn't visible)
I scrobbled a bunch of tracks after wiping my library and than that scrobble was displayed properly on the site (it was from two months ago), and when I deleted it the scrobbles that I previously scrobbled completely disappeared

I re-iterated this process and the same track was always present
2020-12-24 35956, 2020
alastairp
mmm, that's very curious indeed
2020-12-24 35920, 2020
alastairp
so - you had 1 track, then you added a bunch more, and when you deleted the first one the others went away too?
2020-12-24 35911, 2020
lorenzuru
Yep, but that track was left by the system after the listens wipe
2020-12-24 35933, 2020
alastairp
was it a track that you had actually listened to?
2020-12-24 35943, 2020
lorenzuru
As I said it's from two months ago and it should be deleted by the wipe, but right now is properly displayed on the site
2020-12-24 35944, 2020
alastairp
I hope there's not a bug in our individual delete functionality!

lorenzuru: Have you connected spotify?
2020-12-24 35918, 2020
alastairp
but at the moment only the count is there, not the actual listen? (I think there might be an issue with our caches here, so that's not too much of a problem at the moment)

I'm more interested in knowing why deleting one item makes all of the others disappear

<shivam-kapila "Lorenzo: Have you connected spot"> Nope, I imported my scrobbles from last.fm, but I'm in the process of *re-tagging* my scrobbles library and therefore I had to wipe my last.fm imported listens
<alastairp "but at the moment only the count"> The strange behavior is that sometimes it is displayed and sometimes it's not, and right now it seems like the error has been duplicated since it is showing 2 total listens
2020-12-24 35918, 2020
alastairp
right

unfortunately we won't be able to look at it until next week :) but I can have a look once we have a list of problems that you're seeing

lorenzuru
<alastairp "Lorenzo: it'd be great if you we"> Yeah I've already checked the site if it was already a known problem, I'll open a ticket in the evening, thank you
2020-12-24 35907, 2020
alastairp
thanks for notifying us of it!
2020-12-24 35915, 2020
lorenzuru
I asked here in order to know if it was only something related to the cache
2020-12-24 35926, 2020
shivam-kapila
I dont think so. We wipe the cache after deletion
2020-12-24 35951, 2020
lorenzuru
Okay, so I'll open a ticket in the next few hours, thank you for the quick answer and for your work, I really appreciate what you're doing as a community
I can do the community post then, if you haven't started that.

> Merry Christmas from ListenBrainz! We generated some playlists of your top tracks for 2020 for everyone who has used ListenBrainz this year. See your playlists at https://listenbrainz.org/my/recommendations and read more about how we did it at
Not really. A friend of mine https://jeen.bandcamp.com/ is just finishing mixing her latest album, so I'm looking forward to that (hopefully in January). Other than that, I haven't had any time lately to do much exploring. :-(
Hey there! I am Kartik Saxena from NIT Hamirpur. Just read the recent blog on LB playlists. I am simply amazed by tools like troi & typesense and would love to contribute to the same. Mentors, can you help me with some tickets to jump right in.

i think there's a bug with last fm imports on listenbrainz - i imported my listens this year, so my top all time is the top this year. shouldn't it use listened_at ?
2020-12-24 35926, 2020
ruaok
is there anything I can look at to see this, ballin ?
i haven't looked at my listens data - i'm assuming listened_at goes back to ~2013 but I haven't checked. at any rate, my last fm data does go back to 2013

Alrighty! Thanks @shivam-kapila
2020-12-24 35930, 2020

we're careful to preserve listened_at timestamps and that is what the stats should be using.

heh, troi was the minor part. it was always 1 step troi, 3 steps LB. repeat
am I the only one who hates when "year-end" content happens before the year end? What happens in 2021? Will listenbrainz do an analysis on ~December 24th, 2020-December 24th, 2021? Just seems silly to me.
that playlist seems correct. but the other link I gave shows "this year" listens that are really from 2013-2019. you can switch it from"year" to "All time" and it doesn't change https://listenbrainz.org/user/Jovial/charts?page=…
