hi, I have a recording A that lasts 35 minutes on CD that was splitted into two recordings for vinyl (B 20 and C 15 minutes) so that it's splitted into different sides of the LP. Would the relationship be just "edit of" ? or is there some way to specify that B + C = A in that specific order? because "edit of" just means B and C are edits of A but I think some information is missing there

ah, I can specify an order when making the relationship with the original work. I'll use "partial recording of" the original work and also "edit of" the original recording A

I was wrong. I can specify an order if a recording is a recording of several works (as in a medley) but not when a work is splitted in two recordings

i'm hoping that someone can quickly look at my file naming script: https://bpa.st/MXEQ and tell me how to add the disc number regardless of multi disc sets so EVERYTHING is saved as DD-TT or DD-TTT, i.e., i'll be able to rely on the file naming to be more consistent f/scripting.

it'll take me 45 minutes to figure it out

That way the tracks will automatically be sorted appropriately regardless of the number of tracks in a release. It's a bit more reliable than just padding everything to 2 digits.

Yes, I would also use the compilation relationship, edit is more for recording fragments where the rest was "thrown away"

it's even worse when all tracks both in the CD album and the vinyl are called "[untitled]" and I had to spend quite a while listening to everything making sure it was right :)

You mean [untitled] is a compilation of [untitled] and [untitled] :P
