Leo_Verto[m]: whats the scoop on deployment of the User Survey? what can I do?
      • Leo_Verto[m]
The survey's pretty much done except for the UX part
      • getting in touch with someone who does UX and asking them what we should ask our users could solve that
      • ruaok knew someone IIRC
      • Quesito
        ok
      • ruaok
Well, I'm hoping Quesito and/or gcilou could become our resident experts...

      • Quesito
awesome--so what questions do we ask users to get the most UX information to help us?
      • gcilou
(I'm at work now, I will get back to you asap :/)
      • Quesito
i think as this is within a broader survey--maybe we should stick to 3 questions
      • ah! no problem!
      • lol--sorry!!! whenever you have time is fantastic!

Hey who's leading the meeting today?
      • Sophist-UK
        Hi sam
      • samj1912
I am not sure if I'll be up
      • Hi Sophist-UK
      • Sophist-UK
I was hoping that a few Picard developers will be on hand tonight to discuss support for multiple Work tags.
      • samj1912
Had a busy week and just got over with all my end sem lab assignments
      • Sophist-UK
Can I send you a VR caffeine fix?
      • samj1912
Lol, don't think that will help much, been pulling all nighters for the past couple of days
      • Quesito
samj1912: do you have an update for us? I can pass it along to the team
      • sounds like you need to crash! i'm having flashbacks to those days...
      • Sophist-UK
Ok - how many hours ahead of Zulu are you? 4? 5?
      • Its 6:27pm here in UK
      • samj1912
Quesito, just reviews. I spent most of the week busy with college end sem assignments. Apart from that did code reviews for picard and PW. That's about it. Now gearing up for theory exams. And will get back to coding picard stuff tomorrow.
      • Quesito
I'll will share your review tonight! :)
      • samj1912
        Sophist-UK 11 pm here
      • Just about to crash :p
      • Sophist-UK
So it will be well past midnight by the time the meeting starts. Sleep well. ANd I hope your labs went well.
      • samj1912

Sophist-UK: you had a post you wanted us to preread, no? Did I miss you posting it?
      • Sophist-UK
No - agreed with ruaok that I would copy and paste into IRC during the meeting. Its lengthy only because of the need to set the context not because it is difficult to understand.
      • Strategic rather than technical.
      • Quesito
ah, right on! so i did miss the resolution! :P
      • samj1912
Quesito, almost forgot, I was thinking of applying to fedora flock 2017 for a talk proposal about MB and Picard. I'll need help with that if possible and would like to know if MeB already has any plans about flock 2017
      • TOPIC: MetaBrainz Community and Development channel | MusicBrainz non-development: #musicbrainz | GSoC Getting Started: https://goo.gl/JTNkn0 | MeB meeting agenda: reviews, multi-level Picard Work tags and classical music (PICARD-1043) (Sophist), Mineobot (ruaok)
      • Quesito
        Added to your review samj1912!
      • samj1912
Not even sure if it will be relevant at flock or if I'll be accepted. Just passed by that and I have been wanting to get involved with FOSS events so thought about applying.
      • Quesito
        Right on!

Great stuff loujine - I particularly like the who taught who one. Many years ago - Ok, Ok, many decades ago - a school mate drew a diagram of how musicians moved between bands which was along the same lines and fascinating.
      • loujine
Sophist-UK: I know a french amateur did that for classical pianists and sells posters
      • Sophist-UK
That is why the relationships part of the MB data is so important.
      • loujine
      • Sophist-UK
As an aside, I once worked for the IT department of the UK Parliament. It was surprising how little semantic data they had on UK laws - and I tried but failed to persuade them to create a proper legal database which would enable them to map and navigate the legislative connections.
      • I wonder how many years of data gathering went into the piano poster as a single application, and whether (and how quickly) we could recreate that using MB data. (I suspect we couldn't as whilst we probably hold artist data for composers going back centuries, we tend to hold performer data for e.g. pianists based on the recordings in the database. And any pianists who pre-date audio recordings
      • and who were not composers or arrangers in their own right probably aren't in there.
      • I may be a few minutes late getting to the meeting as dinner is a little late today. But I will be there by the time people have gone through their weekly reports.
      • Leo_Verto[m]
wow, the Neuhaus teaching tree is really impressive, so many high profile artists in there! good job loujine!

      • Sophist-UK, reosarevok: I'll have to apply the script to the main composers/teachers of the 19th century (Chopin, Liszt...) and see what's missing to reach the current generation :)
      • reosarevok
I suspect Liszt and Chopin should already reach it
      • Apply it to Boulanger!
