I don't think ferbncode is around. :) reosarevok, go!

Hi!
Last week I went to Lapland, saw reindeer and northern lights and stuff
Other than that, I kept up with support
ruaok
oohh, jealous of the northern lights.
iliekcomputers
saw some photos (on fb?), beautiful!
reosarevok
And I dealt with a pair of style tickets, one to add a type for educational institution places of which we have a ton, and one to mark on which ones people studied
Freso
I really need to go see them one day.
LordSputnik is back
reosarevok
(yes, they were awesome :) )
I think that's that for me, so LordSputnik go
LordSputnik
Okay
Ashish has quit
Firstly finished up with GCI, and we did a lot of data entry tasks over the last weekend
About 20, I think
Well done to all the GCI students (and mentors) :)

Apart from that I've been working on the BookBrainz relationship editor. At the moment I've got a form where you can select the entity type, an entity and a relationship type
I also realised that not everything has to be written using Redux
So this form will maintain its own internal React state, then submit to the Redux state of the app when the "save" button is pressed
I tried out Redux-form and that's pretty good, but don't know whether I'll use it anywhere in BB yet
Next week I'll be doing some schema changes to implement entity-type specific relationships

That it from me :)
bitmap-via-Freso, go!

Last week I did a bit of code review and went over GSoC ideas with yvanzo
So we planned in the summit, that once I am done with the mockups. Someone with knowledge of code, will slice it up into tickets and then the development will go ahead. There a problems like a lot of dependency on designers for assets/crosschecking, etc
I did a little research and a good way to go about it would be to have a design system. Simply put, design system is basically a story of how we design and develop our projects. It will have all the colors, icons, components, etc.

bitmap: yvanzo ruoak I did a little more rework on this. Will be cool if you can have a look as well :)
Leo_Verto
We don't really have any designers around, do we?
ruaok
Leo_Verto: what is chhavi_? chopped liver?
chhavi_
Leo_Verto: hence, we need this even more. So that we can have like a continuous flow b/w design and development.
ruaok
chhavi_: I'll put it on the list for tomorrow.
Leo_Verto
other than her, I mean :P
chhavi_
ruaok: hehe, samj1912 is vegetarian ;)
anshuman73 wonders how chopped lover was the first example that came to ruaok's mind
ruaok
lol
anshuman73
liver*
yvanzo
Leo_Verto: no, but it involves everyone else as well.
Ashish has quit
chhavi_
Freso: that would be all. Once people have a look, we will progress with it :)
chhavi_: my worry with using React components is decoupling the appearance from the behaviour
(for the design system)
chhavi_
Leftmost: LordSputnik has done a brilliant job at helping me get this done fast. Feedback welcomed on this as well.
LordSputnik
Yeah we really like that landing page :)
chhavi_
ruaok: will run you through BB redesigns this week sometime.
whenever you have time :)
Ashish
Can I suggest something ?
Freso
Ashish: Go ahead.
ruaok
chhavi_: this week is good.
I just don't know my schedule since I have no idea what my brain has planned for jetlag.
Freso
chhavi_: Got more tickets for us?
Ashish
For the artist page I feel that if we align the artist pic & info in the left side it would look bit better
chhavi_
np. will take 10 mins. just ping :)
Freso
Ashish: You should write that on the ticket. :)
chhavi_
Freso: nopes. done :D
Freso
Alright then!
Thanks for your time everyone!
anshuman73 could do a review
anshuman73
if time allowd
Freso
anshuman73: Alright, quick one. :)

Hey, sorry for steping in so late, but yay, GCI is over, that means I probably won't be around for a bit until I finally get done with my senior year and get out of high school and get into a college where I'll hopefully have a lot more time to work on *Brainz projects (+ I'll be elligible for GSoC \0/)

Freso
anshuman73: I hope you won't be too much of a stranger. :)
Alright, really thanks for your time everyone! ;)
LordSputnik
anshuman73: good luck :D

Freso: nah, it's just the last 2 years of school get crazy busy in india
chhavi_
LordSputnik: Can you prolly leave your comments on the gist? I am not fully capable of taking decisions on React yet. Yvanzo and bitmap are though :)
anshuman73
LordSputnik: thanks !
LordSputnik
chhavi_: ok
It's entirely possible to do what you propose, but just we have to be careful about coupling application logic with the components
Leo_Verto
that bookbrainz front page mockup looks great!

Anyone who's still here - I feel this has been discussed before, but what are your views for a database for movies ? Considering Amazon bought IMDB and they don't really have an official API, it might be a nice database to open up and license the data for.

Just forgot about the meeting in my daze to finish up my nanodegree.
Anywho, voting plugin is there. It's not entirely perfect, and I'm still going to make incremental improvements, but it works pretty well for most cases

Why is it so satisfying to see your code in action? Like I'm just thinking "man, this is my code that I wrote, like holy shit"
anshuman73
DjSlash: Damn, I honestly never knew that existed
well, still if ruaok and others feel it's cool, it'd be a nice addition to the Brainz family. Also, considering GSoC is round the corner, someone might wanna help pick it up, so just throwing the idea around
also, we could throw in CB integration for movies
Leo_Verto
I think someone from TMDB is a regular here, forgot the name but I think they already worked on some sort of integration with MB
DjSlash
anshuman73: you're welcome. :) And yeah, moviebrainz could be cool too. But there also something about reinventing the wheel. Not sure if TMDB's code is FOSS though.
