those recommendations are actually surprisingly good, pretty close to what I normally listen but I've listened to all of them before (though probably not sent them to LB)

:O
samj1912 just remembered meeting time is 10:30 ist :O
Leo_Verto
but they all reflect the pop-side of my listening habits, nothing more niche or indie in there although I suppose that's just ALS "playing it safe"

samj1912: I can open a ticket for the picard Arch package if you tell me what's wrong with the dependencies.
samj1912
Freso: not really sure
just sometimes I see reports with varied pyqt versions which we dont support
for eg. there was someone running pyqt5.4
the deps are supposed to be mutagen >= 1.39 , PyQt >= 5.8, Python >= 3.5
Freso
samj1912: Okay. Maybe poke me tomorrow. (Current pyqt in Arch's repositories is 5.10.1, anything other/older than that and they updated haven't updated world in a while, or they're using something other than "vanilla" arch.)
Mineo
5.4 hasn't been used in arch since 2015
samj1912
Mineo: pretty sure there was a ticket recently, where the person was using qt5.4
might not be due to arch itself, but due to him not updating the deps and directly installing from git
Freso
samj1912: Arch generally doesn't version dependencies, since it's a "bleeding" edge, rolling release distro, which only supports full-system updates. So if the Picard changes to require pyqt>=5.11 then chances are that PyQt 5.11 (or higher) will already be the current PyQt, or if not, will be rolled out at the same time, and both packages will get updated when updating system.

Leo_Verto: I'm going to make the cluster available to people who want to train modes themselves.

Hello people, and welcome to this meeting on the second day of Easter for (most?) parts of Europe at least. Hope all the Christians and heathens amongst you had a good fertility celebrating party. :)

We have a special guest today, who will most probably just be lurking: yhutchinson — she's the consultant MetaBrainz Foundation is working with for reviewing our policies and workflows etc. (She's been mentioned a few times in previous meetings.)
And with that, let's get rolling.
CatQuest

this week was an abnormal week in that I spent a lot of it faffing about in Jaipur and then traveling home.
reosarevok
Instead of faffing about home?
Leo_Verto is here and has a review
reosarevok hides

but from there we hacked on a recommendation engine for LB over the weekend.

hahaha
iliekcomputers
Hi
ruaok
its really not very good just yet, but given that its the first open source recommendation engine, this is a moment I've been waiting for for year.

both iliekcomputers and ferbncode did a really stellar job learning apache spark over the weekend and pounding out this system.

Neat!
I liked the first recommendation I got FWIW
CatQuest
me to :D
ruaok
and we're running recommendations on the 108M listens in LB -- the fact that we got that working over the weekend is amazing teamwork and amazing tools we have at our disposal.
really happy we got this far.
chhavi_
yayy :)
ruaok
so, we're going to open this up for more people to play with over the next few days/weeks.
so far the cluster is going to cost us $120/month, but I think that is worth it.
ok, changing gears: GSoC.
mentors: if you haven't already, please log in and review proposals.
if there is a proposal you wish to mentor, press the want to mentor button.
reosarevok
ruaok: when do we get the real recommendations shown somewhere btw? :)
(even if they're very raw)
ruaok
if a proposal fits in your area of expertise, please leave comments on that proposal.
I'll start poking people about more detailed comments in the next few days.
reosarevok: we'll work on exposing recommendations soon -- things are super raw and with sharp edges still.
fin. ferbncode go!

iliekcomputers
Hi
ferbncode
This weekend was really cool. ruaok, Leo_Verto , iliekcomputers and iworked on starting up the recommendation engine using the LB dumps. \o/. Other than that, sent in https://github.com/metabrainz/critiquebrainz/pu... for adding tests for dump manager functions (still need to fix them).
fin!
iliekcomputers: go!

I worked on deploying beta.critiquebrainz.org, opened a few CB PRs and then worked on a recommendation engine with Rob and ferbncode over the weekend, we made some really good progress and I'm excited about that
In the meanwhile, we came across bugs such as the LB dumps being corrupt
