mainly fought against disk space on few machines, finishing few admin bits around
currently investigating a response time degradation on solr cloud
plus upgrades, most notably openresty containers on our gateways

A .sig a fellow member of my LUG says (or used to say): "there are two kinds of hard disks: new and full".

mostly worked on changes to React PRs, my homepage one and the statistics one from spellew
made some small fixes/improvements to reosarevok's genres branch, added an autocomplete that shows available genres as you type
am a bit focused on getting older prs merged now though

hi:
Last week, I worked on fixing error localizations, updating MBS docker container and virtual machine (being tuned), and handling spam stuff mostly.
Also worked with samj1912 on releasing a new MBS update that features the brand new SOLR-based search.
Reviewed and tested the implementation of genres by reosarevok/bitmap. :)
Deireadh! Leo__Verto?
Leo__Verto
thanks!
I worked on building the SpamBrainz backend and decided to use brainzutils to prevent duplication between projects.
Freso
(Only ruaok and bukwurm / bukwurm_ left on my list. If there is anyone else, please let me know ASAP.)
Leo__Verto
I then ended up up adding support for editor entities in brainzutils
Other than that I helped ruaok test the new VM
(very unsuccessfully)

ruaok, go!

last week was a very mixed bag.
mb-vm stuff, solr stuff prodding, PRs, and reviewing a contract for a potential new unicorn.
after the previous' week conflict, it was easier to get back to the conflict resolution protocol.
having a fresh conflict resolved well was good timing for getting that moved forward.
today I got everyone but the frenchies paid and started doing quarterly acounting.
and we welcomed audiogum as a new bronze supporter today.

🙌 🎉

and I'm still working to find new, intelligent insurance companies to work with.
the existing one could't open https links in email.
if I wanted to send those, I would have to put them in a PDF and send them the PDF.

I said: bye, get your shit together.

Hi!
This week I wrapped up validators and import process
I worked on react pages for imports
Looked into the existing es indexing for search
That's it for this week.

Alright!
Thanks for your reviews everyone!

iliekcomputers: maintaining mbdata and mb-slave
If iliekcomputers is still around…
iliekcomputers
Hi
Freso
🙌
iliekcomputers
So...
Rsh7 talked to luks about some licensing permissions re her GSoC project
And luks suggested that he wasn't really close to MeB anyMore
So he was wondering if we wanted to take over mb-slave
ruaok
make sense to me.
iliekcomputers
We use mbdata a lot in our projects too
So I guess we can consider maintaining that also
ruaok
let's do that.
bitmap
sounds good
Freso
I'm not sure there's much to discuss. :) If ruaok signs off on it (and it seems he did/does), then it's just a question of getting the practical stuff sorted.
Seems like motion is carried then!
ruaok nods
iliekcomputers: Anything else?
iliekcomputers
Okay. Sounds good. I'll talk to luks about it.
Or I'll ask rsh7
Freso
I guess that's a "no" to "anything else?" :)
So that's a wrap for the meeting.
Thanks for your time everyone!
</BANG>
iliekcomputers
Thanks Freso
Freso
Also, ruaok, thanks for dealing with all the stuff like insurance companies and banks.
rdswift
Freso, my NAS tells me there's a third type of hard drive... Failed. ;-)
ruaok
:)
Freso
rdswift: :p
iliekcomputers
Yes, thanks ruaok too ❤️
ruaok
iliekcomputers: thanks for helping with messybrainz PRs.
still, never seems fast enough for some people. myself included. :)
kloeri
I don't have much time to follow this part of the world (so to speak) but from what I see lots of good stuff happens
and I enjoy poking my head in from time to time as you all seem to be very friendly and working together quite efficiently
something that's often hard to sustain as many projects have experienced over the years
and since I managed to add a new artist and a couple releases to musicbrainz recently I feel like I've given a tiny bit back at least :)
ruaok
well, thank you. all around. :)
if I were to speculate on how all this turned out... I would have to point to the CD Index.
that was the MB predecessor that was literally born from a slashdot posting.
it was a complete nightmare. utter and complete.
kloeri
heh
ruaok
my first lesson in open source was a very detailed and intricate explanation of what NOT to do.
abandoning that project quietly and starting out new with a motto of "be nice" and reinforcing that hard-core for many years made some difference.
kloeri
well, we all make lots of mistakes in the beginning for sure
some are just luckier than others in the lessons they seem to pick up
ruaok
luck. that, a 1000 times that.
kloeri
I think I've been fairly lucky myself
from Gentoo I learned a lot about what doesn't work (in my opinion anyway), freenode staff helped me talk to tons of very different projects and Exherbo (my Linux distribution) let me experiment with lots of different ideas after having a few years of experience from Gentoo
and fwiw I didn't mean to say anything bad about Gentoo - lots of people enjoy that very much but for me at least I think I need to manage things much differently
one of the great things about open source is lots of choice after all :)
Zastai has quit
also, very much agree with always being nice
occassionally I see people saying that Exherbo is very bad and when I politely ask them why it's always something about the developers being assholes and such
so I talk to them for a while and then usually thank them and tell them I'll look into it as I'm obviously interested in having a nice and friendly community me being the founder and all
at which point they usually apologise and jump into the Exherbo channel to learn some more about it and generally have a great time :)
Leo__Verto
I've found that a lot of open source communities can be quite toxic and hostile to newcomers
I like to think that we've managed to build a community that isn't
