Roamed around Paris with rsh7, kartikeyaSh and bukwurm
Lots of stuff to see
reosarevok
Nobody was rude to you?
iliekcomputers
Monday was acousticbrainz meeting with alastairp which was pretty nice and productive
reosarevok: not at all
CatQuest
wat. noone rude in paris? how?
iliekcomputers
There were a bunch of made in China Eiffel tower keyring sellers
CatQuest
the keyrings or the keyringsellers?
iliekcomputers
The keyrings were made in china
CatQuest
aw
iliekcomputers
Other than that, I worked a bit on fixing the remaining stuff before Spotify import can be deployed on beta.lb
And did a bit of CB evangelism asking a friend to help out with some dev woen
Work*
Let's see how that goes.
Rn, I'm on a bus to delhi - - yea yea
Excited for the gsoc mentor summit
Fin.
reosarevok: go
reosarevok
chhavi_: go
chhavi_
I have nothing much to say either. Settling back. Got myself updated on gci, will create tasks this week. And also the ticket reo and I discussed at summit about data quality
reosarevok: go now :P
reosarevok
:)
Yay data quality
CatQuest
hmm
reosarevok
Hi! So last week I talked too much in Barcelona
ruaok
really?
reosarevok
And then I came back and vegetated
I did manage to (hopefully) update and finish our last year GCI PR porting statistics pages to React
Which wasn't too bad but needed a lot of small fixes, plus covered only half the stats pages
Also did some more reviewing of bitmap's sidebar thing, which hopefully is now ready
As CatQuest mentioned, I did a couple small Jira changes for instruments, and I think that's about it :)
ruaok: stop snarking and go :p
ruaok
whaaaat?
k
I got everyone paid and then ran off to hamburg.
after a couple days off and chilling i came back and jumped into accounting.
it seems that each month something with the data formats we get from the banks change and I need to tweak them.
lame.
Mr_Monkey
Fun Stuff ™
ruaok
but hopefully that is less and less over time.
so, this week I'm going to finish monthly accounting and post-summit paperwork crap.
nothing exciting. thursday am I am off to the bay area.
fin.
Freso
(I only have myself and bitmap left for reviews. Anyone else, please let me know explicitly.)
ruaok
bitmap: go
bitmap
hello
rsh7
Freso: I'm up for the review!
bitmap
I spent last week updating my sidebar PR to finish converting the edit, collection, and cdstub sidebars to React, plus fixing a few bugs reosarevok found
simultaneously worked on my branch for converting the edit diffs, particularly the edit relationship ones
other than that, a bunch of code review / merging
reosarevok
:)
Will it go out to beta this week already?
(sidebar + genres)
CatQuest
:o
bitmap
I hope so :)
fin, rsh7 go :)
rsh7
hello!
CatQuest
hi!
rsh7
Last week I attended a great MeB summit :D
We also met Alastair at his university and discussed plans for the work to be done in AB, then spent 2 days at Paris with a little Indian team and then back to India. So, last week was mostly traveling.
Then I worked on adding more entities that use MB data to BrainzUtils so that all the projects can use the entities for the direct connection with MB db and created a pull request BU-21 for the same.
And yeah, I and iliekcomputers made a few tasks for GCI, and will create more tasks this week.
And this week I would try to remove the musicbrainz_db module from Critiquebrainz and make it use BU for importing stuff related to direct mb db access.

BrainzBot
You're doing good work, rsh7!
rsh7
thanks!
that's all for today! fin
Freso: go go!
CatQuest
:D
Freso
🙋
No one else is left, so if
… I don't see anyone saying they're up for reviews during mine, we'll continue to agenda items afterwards.
That out of the way…
These last two weeks, I prepared to go the summit, I went to summit (and live-streamed as much of it as I was able to).
I did some Google Code-in preparatory stuff, I've gotten my ESTA done for trip to the US in a couple of days, …
bukwurm
reosarevok: Yeah, and a general hi everyone :P
Freso
I closed a very heated topic on the forums and also handled some flags and reports.
reosarevok
Yeah, sigh, that was a terrible one
Thanks for dealing with that one, Freso
Freso
I think that's more or less it. bukwurm, go!
yvanzo
ESTA bien
bukwurm
Hey everyone
Freso
bukwurm: And please be more explicit about wanting to do a review next time. :)
bukwurm
This week was mostly packed with returning back from the summit
But I did manage to finish off duplication detection during form filling
Mr_Monkey
!m bukwurm
BrainzBot
You're doing good work, bukwurm!
Mr_Monkey
Woohoo !
bukwurm
I hope Mr_Monkey and I can coordinate and put it on test for everyone to test it out
CatQuest
yay!
Mr_Monkey
Sweet!
bukwurm
That was pretty much it for this week
\o/
I'm unsure if anyone else is left
My battery was out of juice so I couldn't read earlier messages
Freso
No one else is left. :)
So… onwards!
reosarevok: CD Stubs
reosarevok
So
During the post-summit Monday chat with bitmap and yvanzo we were talking CD Stubs
CatQuest
chat or chaat?
reosarevok
Just chat. I never got to try the chaat!
CatQuest
:C
reosarevok
Anyway
We were wondering whether we should block adding more CD Stubs
It's, as it stands, basically pointless
CatQuest
uh i didn't know we could add them at all .O
reosarevok
Yet used surprisingly often
CatQuest
:(
reosarevok
Well, we can't, unless we're logged out I think
bitmap
I don't have the stats in front of me but we get a lot more submissions than I expected
reosarevok
Yeah
CatQuest
not good
reosarevok
I do: we got 449 new CD Stubs last month
(well, the month before last Monday)
We got 17697 new releases - so, a lot more, but still a surprisingly significant amount of CD Stubs
bitmap
not sure how many of those are actually imported as releases, but probably a tiny percentage
reosarevok
With our current setup, I suspect maybe 10% of those ever get imported
CatQuest
not good
reosarevok
So unless we want to commit to properly making CD Stubs visible
CatQuest
they're kidna a black hole right
Freso
Do we have any stats of where the stubs come from?
Are they from specific clients, or… ?
reosarevok
(which is hard because we only have a string for artist, so we can't even show with too much certainty "it seems this belongs under this artist and you might want to import it)
I'd say we should stop giving these people the idea they're spending their time usefully when honestly, they mostly aren't
And tell them to just make an account and add a release
CatQuest
👍
Freso
Would it be possibly to use it for or with MessyBrainz data to make it useful somehow?
I'm not against not allowing more submissions though.
ruaok
it could be.
reosarevok
Freso: my understanding is that CD Stubs are added only from the website itself, but haven't added any ever :p
ruaok
but we can use an old dump for that.
yvanzo
DO we have stats about stubs usage through WS?
CatQuest
yes!
reosarevok
I'm not talking about dropping all the existing CD Stubs, necessarily
