reosarevok: what is the recommended max length of a line in a react file ?
-
when working with zulip, it was around 80 chars. is it the same here ?
-
reosarevok
-
Seems 78
-
Cyna
huh should be a number div by 10, dont you think 🤔
-
78 seems an odd choice
-
reosarevok
I dunno, I didn't set it :D
-
On that matter: bitmap, yvanzo: is there any reason we have ignoreStrings true?
-
We try to avoid them being too long anyway and with backtick multilines there seems to be no reason not to enforce max-len for them
-
bitmap
yeah I think that was before we could use `` for translated strings
-
reosarevok
Should we change it?
-
(also, do you know why 78 and not the default 80? Not that I mind either way)
-
bitmap
sure :)
-
I mean it is 80 for all intents and purposes, 78 just gives you some wiggle room for line numbers or diff markers and such
-
it's not uncommon to have it set to 72 or 76 or 78

ruaok: can one artist_msid have many artist_mbids list?

It can have a one or more Artist mbids, yes. That is why the mapping has an array in it...
-
pristine__
That's not what I meant..... A sec
-
alastairp
an artist msid is more like a musicbrainz artist credit
-
so "Sonny and Cher" is a single artist msid (because that's what a client will sent to listenbrainz as the "artist")
-
pristine__
-
what about this?
-
weirditude has quit
-
alastairp
what's that mapping from?
-
pristine__
the artist_msid, artist_mbid mapping rob made
-
alastairp
it'd be nice to see a list of the artist strings from both msb and mb in that list for comparison
-
right, so a single artist msid _could_ be made up of more than 1 mbid
-
because as I said, it could be a credit
-
"Artist 1 feat. artist 2" -> [artist1, artist2]
-
pristine__
I just want to know that can one artist_msid map to multiple artist_mbids
-
see the first two rows
-
the artist_msids are same
-
but the mbid they map to are different
-
like you told me that one mbid can map to multiple msids (during the summit)
-
is the reverse true?
-
weirditude joined the channel
-
CatQuest: yeah, you got it right. what I ask?
-
so what do think about the gist I posted
-
you*
-
I am not talking about credits, I understand that an artist_mbids could be made of more than one mbid.
-
alastairp
pristine__: this is why I suggested that you should also display the artists
-
I don't know why this is the case
-
one option could be that they are multiple artists with the same name
-
have you looked at them?
-
pristine__
nice. I will check that.....
-
No
-
not as of now
-
I have been tweaking this and other things since morning, there are interesting observations, will share soon an yes I will check the artists
-
in any case
-
alastairp
-
-
pristine__
these are edge cases
-
alastairp
-
while they're not the most common case, I wouldn't treat artists with the same name as an edge case
-
there are _many_ artists with the same name, this has to be considered as normal
-
ruaok
Hmm. That looks a bit fishy. Let me get to a computer and I'll have a look.
