People up for review: reosarevok, yvanzo, Freso, bitmap, Mr_Monkey, zas, alastairp, jmp_music, diru1100, prabal, shivam-kapila, CatQuest, ishaanshah, _lucifer – anyone else who wants to give review, please let me know ASAP!
Last week I disabled external links from MusicBrainz to potentially harmful websites.
(harmful in the sense it is known to be currently targetted by some malware.)
Released a new version of MBS and did some reviews.
Otherwise I mostly helped diru1100 with wrapping his project up.
Finito, go bitmap?
bitmap
hey
reosarevok
(*is sad*)
bitmap
last week I started submitting PRs from my react relationship editor branch
one of them also happens to significantly reduce the response size of some entity pages, iirc more than 120KB after gzip for the beatles for example
alastairp
wow, great
bitmap
also submitted an old PR for removing lodash which reduces our JS size even further. when it's finally under 1MB I'll be happy :P
a lot of the response size was from html encoding a large json object into an html attribute so the hundreds of " got converted intoo " :P
also did code review etc.
fin, go reosarevok!
reosarevok
I worked on some more React conversion, and then I looked into adding more Flow typing (and strict typing) to our JS files. That took quite a long time and produced what I thought was a pretty huge PR - until bitmap put his PR to get rid of lodash up, with 84 (!) commits, of which I reviewed part today and which I will keep reviewing tomorrow. And maybe the day after tomorrow :D
my goal this week is to update rubab instrument description with disambiguations in preparation for adding the missing things on INST-392, which I will be working on forward.
nothing fancy this week on my side, Picard code reviews, usual maintenance
also mitigate an attack on some servers (ssh password scanning)
fin. Mr_Monkey ?
yvanzo
someone else please?
alastairp
diru1100: go
diru1100
Hello Everyone!!
Last week was intense, completed spambrainz_ml and finally released v-0.1
Also dockerized and made SB_API work with detialed documentation
yvanzo, helped me a lot to achieve this within such a short time.
Thank you very much!!
Before last week I was preoccupied with something irl, sorry for missing out in the meetings.
Thank you!!
fin!
jmp_music_: go
Freso
(People still up: Freso, alastairp, prabal, shivam-kapila, ishaanshah, _lucifer – anyone else who wants to give review, please let me know ASAP!)
jmp_music_
Hey everybody!
Freso
(Sorry about dropping the ball there, had just gotten up to get snacks.)
jmp_music_
last week I continued working on the ML tool integration.
There were some Python 3 compatibility issues that were fixed when the sklearn dataset evaluator docker image runs.
I had some chatting with @alastairp who guided me with the necessary instructions.
fin. Next @Freso ?
Freso
o/
Not much this last week either. Finished up my Python course though, so now just anxiously refreshing pages to confirm that I passed. :p
alastairp
Freso: what type of ball was it? (and what kind of snacks?)
Freso
I did spend a while today and yesterday copyediting and scheduling GSoC blog posts. Three are out now, the fourth should be out at noon CEST tomorrow.
alastairp: Those soft balls you squeeze, and peanuts + chili peanuts, self mixed.
alastairp: Also, go!
alastairp
hi
I spent some more time looking at critiquebrainz tickets, and trying to get beta merged into the production site. unfortunately there are a huge number of pending bugs that I found in beta, and so without a developer on it (contractor or volunteer) we’re going to have to carefully decide what the next step is here. I’ve put this task to the side until we can discuss it in more detail to decide what to do
I fixed and deployed some bugs that jmp_music reported, and I worked with him on planning the final steps of his project. We didn’t get everything working that we wanted to, but I think we’re in a really solid place to build off of his work this year
I took a look at a continuation of MBS-10916. We had a question about where to set a confidence threshold. So I started to collect some datasets that dealt with key of songs (that included both audio files, and a database of the keys) and will do an evaluation on the accuracy of the acousticbrainz key extractor
finally, after a discussion with some other colleagues about MB’s music recommendation plans, I finally started writing a document combining some thoughts from myself and others in our lab at UPF about ideas where recommendation can go in the future. I’m going to try and share it this coming week to get feedback
on top of that, I finished moving to my new house, but am still waiting for internet to be connected (no surprises there, Spain), so am only periodically connecting via tethering for the next who knows who long
prabal: next
prabal
Hi
last week, we finished the `remove collaboration` feature
Mr_Monkey
(Sorry, I didn't see time pass. I'm up for review!)
prabal

also final completed gsoc eval :))
that's it
next? Mr_Monkey: go
Mr_Monkey
Hi!
Got back on Thursday, but didn't work a whole lot. I mostly reviewed prabal's work, and tied a few loose ends with dependencies in BB and LB.
And that's it. ishaanshah go !
ishaanshah
Thanks!
Hey Everyone!
For the first half of the past week I worked on adding incremental dump support to the spark cluster
In the second half I worked on the work product and submitted the final evaluation
Freso
