I had to handle a kiki's failure (likely a freeze or kernel oops) (our main gateway)
it caused a downtime of 40 minutes
I noticed SSD's are eol on it, so plan a machine upgrade soon
plus usual stuff, upgrades, maintenance, user support, etc... fin. Mr_Monkey ?
Mr_Monkey
H i!
Hi! even
I only properly got back to work today, so not much to say for last week. Starting to review some PRs for BB and LB, and did a bit of LB debugging. That's it for me !
bitmap: go!
bitmap
hey
last week I got back to work on MBS-10187 which I had an old branch for, but needed tests added and i18n fixes
reosarevok prodded me to finish that recently, sorry for the delay
to leave proper edit notes informing the editor what happened, it requires making improvements to how we localize edit notes in the DB, i.e. adding support for more gettext functions, which I'm still finishing up today
CatQuest
:o
bitmap
I also worked on another old branch to add selenium tests for the CAA. trying to get back to random things I left hanging before the holidays
CatQuest
wait modbot i's about to get multilang?
reosarevok
bitmap: oh, neat, IIRC the branch I had that could use that support is still open, I should reuse your stuff then :)
bitmap
but I want those in particular to make sure this stuff is well tested before we bake in EAA support
reosarevok
CatQuest: it already does, for a few notes :)
(I mean, if you use the site in German or whatever you see them in German)
bitmap
yeah, this just makes it so we can use stuff like attribute names and translation context
some notes are not translated yet, but
CatQuest
woh
cool
bitmap
anyway, otherwise mostly just did code review and other minor tasks. fin
ruaok go!
ruaok
k
reosarevok
"trying to get back to random things I left hanging before the holidays" ornaments?
reosarevok shuts up
bitmap
well, that too
ruaok
last week was mostly dealing with year end stuff and starting new year stuff. borning overhead stuff. catching up on email.
hopefully I can do real work this week. fin.
_lucifer: go
_lucifer
Hi! all
CatQuest
hopefully you won't get a born out
reosarevok
:D
_lucifer
i worked on adding tests to BU using the sample database instead of mocks. I reviewed a PR for the android app.
also, did some minor bug fix work on CB.
that's it for me.
alastairp: next?
alastairp
hello
it's not snowing in Barcelona, unlike Madrid. I'm a bit disappointed
ruaok
srsly
all we got was lousy rain all weekend
alastairp
last week I started some developer-facing improvements to LB, including reducing our running images (LB-765) and unifying unit/integration tests to reduce the stupid number of docker-compose files that we have (LB-768)
(Only jmp_music, shivam-kapila, and myself are still up! Final call for anyone else who want to give review!)
alastairp
I also reviewed a bunch of PRs on CB, BU, and LB, thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly on those over the holidays!
I went back to some troi/datasets tasks that I stopped working on because of the playlists push. I've just about finished integrating sentry into the ds hoster on bono and prod
that's it. been a while since a list of pending users has been pasted. yvanzo ?
no, you went before
shivam-kapila?
shivam-kapila
Hi
Thanks
Freso
alastairp: I just pasted one. :p
shivam-kapila
Last week I did some LB PR reviews and lil bit catching up my previous work
Thats it. jmp_music__? If not then Freso
alastairp
Freso: oh, missed it in my comments. thanks
jmp_music__
Hi everybody!!
I wish a Happy New Year to all of you as I didn't make it for the previous week's meeting.
shivam-kapila
(S2U)
jmp_music__
I started collecting datasets locally to "play" with the sklearn too and see how it goes in various experiments
Earlier today I also had a small chat with @alastairp to schedule the next steps of the tool integration to AB
fin
Freso: next?
Freso
o/
yvanzo
last but not least
Freso
Not much to report for last week. Trying to get ready for exam week, which has now started.
shivam-kapila
ATB
Freso
So either I’ll be hyper-stressed next Monday with a few hours to go, or I’ll be all set. :x
Either, fin.
And no more people up for reviews on my list.
And more items on the agenda.
CatQuest
Freso: instead of stressing, someone else could lead the meeting i think
Freso
So thank you everyone who gave reviews, thank you everyone for your time, and remember to stay safe and take care of yourself.
CatQuest
(if not all set)
Freso
CatQuest: I may poke someone about that. I’ll see when we’re closer. :)
ruaok: Regarding the "Export to Spotify" playlists, we might publish it under troi-bot user and give users link to them. They could follow the users. How does it sound?
alastairp: Mr_Monkey: too
ruaok
shivam-kapila: why would we do that?
alastairp
shivam-kapila: do you have a bit more context to this? I don't know what an export to spotify playlist is
shivam-kapila
alastairp: the "export to spotify" feature is available in the LB playlists. It returns back a URL whem we export them. However I havent tested playing them
bitmap
alastairp: MBS uses jenkins to transfer static resources (js/css/images) to staticbrainz, but it's only a few MB or so each run, so I don't think switching networks is an issue
shivam-kapila
ruaok: just a suggestion (for future). For better UX.
alastairp
bitmap: but that interaction doesn't require being on the internal network or anything?
ah. so install jenkins directly in the vm rather than use docker-in-docker
alastairp
right, something like that. less moving parts
though this issue may be a result of specifics on the way we run docker
bitmap
anyway I'm all for that since a dedicated vm would likely make mbs's selenium tests more stable while json dumps are running
alastairp
ok. I'll coordinate with zas to get the base server set up then will ping you for the migration
thanks
bitmap
re the wal files buildup, there was a failed barman backup on Jan 3, which is why it's storing everything since the most recent backup before that (Dec 27)
not sure of the reason it failed outside of "failure copying files (data transfer failure)"
I'll delete the failed backup and the Dec 27 one, which should resolve space issues for now
alastairp
Jan 3 is a Sunday, which is when zas says disk space peaks, so that sounds like it matches up
