Can I create a series for the issues of a comic magazine?

I think that's also what some other users do

Might be worth searching BookBrainz for some examples

There isn't currnetly a style guide for how to enter those, but there are some discussions on the topic in the community forums

I'll check the forums as well

<zemeles[m]> "I mean comics that got a new..." <- For manga, we prefer creating individual works for each chapter because of the individual chapters are serialized separately in magazines, at least in Japan. I'm less familiar with Western comics, but I think they are usually serialized at the issue level, right?

Yes, you're right

I'd suggest creating a work per issue and a work series for the issues in that case

The comics I'd like to add were release every one or two months and contain short stories that don't span across multiple issues but they also don't constitute a chapter in a greater narrative

Ah, the short stories might make it more of a pain then, since we usually try to put short stories in their own works

Well, the issues usually contain 3-4 stories so that won't be a problem

By short story, do you mean actual text or do you mean a "comics story"?

Okay, so, I wouldn't worry about creating a work for each comics story then, just the issue. When a comics story is published individually in some form, then it would make sense to create individual works per story.

One last question
2025-11-24 32836, 2025
zemeles[m]
How do I denote the issue number?
2025-11-24 32848, 2025
zemeles[m]
Do I write it next to the comic's name?
2025-11-24 32802, 2025
jwillikers[m]
Yes, I'd write series name #issue number, i.e. Wendy Witch World #18 looking at an example from GCD
