Is there a protocol or API standard for scrobbling audiobooks, in a similar way to how ListenBrainz works?

I'm not aware of any, but it sounds like an interesting idea.

You can always just scrobble audiobooks
      • I'll admit tho that a separate history for that might be better

Kinda weird to mix audiobooks with music, yeha.

I’ve always scrobbled audiobooks + podcasts with my music - to last.fm and ListenBrainz
      • In theory ListenBrainz could one day automatically split the histories, since we can check the release group type in musicbrainz (e.g. check for broadcast, spoken word, audiobook)

      • kellnerd[m] has separate LB accounts for music and spoken audio
      • Of course he does :P
      • I haven’t bothered setting up submissions on my phone again, which is where I mainly listen to audiobooks and podcasts (on the move or in the kitchen or couch), so that history is a bit lacking. But if/when ListenBrainz lets me highlight tracks and albums that I’ve already listened to, I will become very keen to use it to organise my listening across various players/services
