I don't know where this idea came from either. i've been following along reading this thing withouth javascript on :D
(let me tell you thoguh, it paginates and there are no annoying moving bits)
but alas i can't login :(
I want to reply: I want to say: no the mods aren't asleep, they where jsut a) on vacation/honeymoon and b) ill!
I wan't to say that I think the new type of "alias" doesnt really make sense to me, but that the "withdrawn" type does
I wan't to say that I agree that brigadeering and agressive calling and erasing the past are all bad things to do. but I also want to say that arguing that this is the same as any name change and every trasnperson speaks for all and "deadnaming isn't so bad" and baltan transfobia and thne arguing semantics of that word like that's an excuse is ALSO bad fait

CatQuest: Thanks, trying to. This entire discussion is very draining I must say :( I hope my comments did help a bit at keeping things kind of civil, I really feared this was going to escalate really badly
CatQuest
and I want to say: this isn't "political" becase noone would argue that cis or male or hetrosexual things are "political"

+1
about the "withdrawn": In general I am still in favor of having this, I'm just not sure anymore it would be a good solution here. It would still require to duplicate all releases (to have one "withdrawn" and a new one), and IMHO we shouldn't duplicate them in this case. But either way, it would be better than the status quo.
CatQuest
there was a tweet or reddit reply I read, I wish i had bookmarked it. that said: "there are two sexes: male and political, there are two races: white and political, there are two orientations: hetro and political, there are two genders: cis and political, etc you get the picture"
it was such a clear explanation and refutal of that "don't make this political/political correctnes gone to far, blah balh woke blah" thing
I agree, in *this* case it might be better to just go with all renaming releases, the dduplication this will make is so annoying.
on the *other hand* arg

yep. if one belongs to some groups / minorities / whatever it is very difficult to not be "political"
CatQuest
oh I i forgot one "abled and political"

"on the other hand", yes :) It was what I wrote on the original edit that I'm really torn here. I think I have a better understanding of my own opinion now, but I still can see arguments for both sides.
CatQuest
same!

if you don't mind I add a comment to the forum discussion linking to the chatlog here
CatQuest
sure! please! since I can't really comment. alas :D
(but I appologise for my spelling :DDD)

CatQuest: Note that without the "brigading", none of this would ever have reached discussion and a single editor voting against an edit would have solidified MB as a community that does not value trans people
CatQuest
this is true.
the "brigadeering" attitide is still wrong.
i do however understand why peopel do that, since peopel are used to places simply ignoring the issues of trasn people

Honestly aside from commenting it's not like you can even really brigade on MB, since you have to have 10 accepted edits before you're able to vote (which will almost certainly take at least a week)
(10 non-auto edits)
CatQuest
I think that point was even brought up

🤦 just learned that you can drag-and-drop coverart in the "reorder" page, and don't have to just use arrow buttons
JuniorJPDJ
but you cant when you are changing order on upload page ;X
CatQuest
that's going to save A LOT of time (in the future atleast 😹)
CatQuest: Probably "Super Deluxe Edition", in which case the difference would be the "256 page hardcover book with 10 essays, 200+ photos, and 8 inserts" ?
I was looking for a way to tell React that this and that HTML content had to be registered in its collection of things that React manages. So that they are included in React further page redraws. But apparently maybe this does not exist. See above link.
