It is based off of a single track on the soundcloud page: https://soundcloud.com/aya_yco/a-melange-a-malaise

I opted for adding it as a release instead of a standalone recording, because it has artwork associated with it. Do you think this is a correct approach?

how do I add DJ mixes? Can't seem to find any guide

notsosmart: that release you added looks fine, it's mostly up to the editor to judge whether something from a platform like soundcloud warrants a dedicated release or just a standalone recording

How adding DJ-mixes works depends on how they are structured, if it's a "normal" release with a tracklist that is just mixed to have smooth transitions between the songs you add the release as normal and select the "DJ-Mix" release group secondary type

If it's a single track made up from lots of different tracks mixed together you add a single track and use the relationship editor (accessed from the tabs at the top of the release page or the edit screen for the recording entity) to link the included tracks

For both you can link the artist that did the mixing using a relationship as well

Is there a tool to convert bandcamp track listings to the format expected by the MusicBrainz tracklist parser?

aidalgol: there is an importer userscript that almost completely automates the process for you

It adds a button to the Bandcamp release pages that take you to a Musicbrainz release add form prefilled with all the available information

elomatreb[m]: I just tried it with Greasemonkey on Firefox and it just opens https://musicbrainz.org/release/add without populating any fields.

that's strange, I'm using FF+Greasemonkey too and it works just fine for me (just tried it)
