aerozol Because I don't want to dig out a scanner when there's a perfectly serviceable version on bandcamp.

PelvicSorcery: why not just tag with the group image I guess is the question?
of course if you've matched the BC cover to your in hand cover and the colours have come out the same and the crops the same then go for gold
(I make an edit note if this is the case)

hmm, surprised I haven't come across this before: what to enter as format if I'm entering a broadcast? the original radio one, not a download
Also, any guidance on submitting m4b audiobooks? Submit as one file as per Picard, or submit as the chapters in the m4b? :o

aerozol: I would create a track per chapter for M4B audiobooks, that would be similar to how DVDs are handled. Those also have one main "title" (DVD terminology, often equals one extracted video file) which is divided into "chapters" for the songs.
But I've also seen editors adding both a single track and a multi track release (split into chapters) for Audible audiobook releases (which are released as a single AAX file AFAIK).
CatQuest
I'm so conflicted about this usecase
because on one hand it's *not* more than one "track" eg compare cd's and recording will be attached to track and not have two recordings on a split track etc
but on the other hand things like vinyl, cassettes, dvd's etc are split
and one cold argue that i's that picard dosn't have the right "technology" to recognise the splits i dvd chapters and these file types?
but on the other hand mb really needs the ability to have sub-track sectios (wich is a thing on cd's)
kellnerd
Yes, subtracks would solve many of these problems.
CatQuest
as well as that a track that is a combination of more than one recording (what we write as "name1 / name2") should be actually two recordings attachd to a singular track
infact that could possibly be the same solution
e have managed to do track 0 and "datatrack" bits on cd's.. wich is important because if the # of tracks don't match the cd toc it cannot be attached
hmmm
honestly one could use those two to "hax" it.. but it woudl be better if w could actulaly reuse soem of that code to make subtracks work

Is there an agreed practice for when an artist changes their name?
what yvanzo said. but also if they are "rereleaseing" ie renaming their old releases with the new name, then it's likly a rename is the right thing
sciencentistguy
the old releases on spotify are now under the new name, so i believe that is what's happened
CatQuest
right!
one thing to remember tho is that they *used* to be under the old name, so don't set to change all the artist credits too. isntead (because this is how our model works currently) new releases with the new name must be created
sciencentistguy
CatQuest: when editing the name it is asking me whether i want to tick boxes to update the name in credits. you're saying i shouldn't tick those?
If an artist has a forwarding link to bandcamp from their site, should the bandcamp link replace that or be in addition to?

PelvicSorcery: shorturls, url redirectors etc, should not be added to mb, instead the actual target should. so yes, actual bandcamp link should replace such
Is it wrong that I want to just delete incorrect digital releases and redo them using the bandcamp script instead of fixing the existing release?

reosarevok It's mostly that they just typed the info in and missed a lot of the fields the importer handles. Which is why I say it'd probably be faster to delete and import.
reosarevok
At least import and merge, if the tracklist is more or less fine
