is there a way to get the naming script to spit out the type of file in the directory name of the release when saving and moving?
      • 2023-03-25 08432, 2023

      • iconoclasthero
i.e., i would prefer to have .flac files of everything and manually go back and tag directories with a terminal "(mp3)" if they're lossy.

this would be an if statement such that if the files were not .flac, they would be tagged with (mp3) regardless of mp3/aac/opus/ogg/wma/etc.

so is mid3v2 what picard uses to tag files? further, if i wanted to use mutagen to change the album tags for all files i've found that are lossy, the tag is TALB and i just use ` -A <album name (mp3)> ` assuming that mp3 is a standin for all lossy media?

those formats have their own tagging system, opus uses vorbis tags IIRC
      • 2023-03-25 08446, 2023

      • duncan
i wouldn't expect mid3v2 to be able to tag formats which aren't compatible with those tags
      • 2023-03-25 08426, 2023

      • duncan
specifically mid3v2 is for id3v2, there are also certain formats which are id3 tags underneath but not strictly compatible with it, like DSF

Hello everyone. I am trying to get Logitech Media Server to scrobble tracks to Listenbrainz. It only supports the Audioscrobbler (Last.fm) API, so I am trying to follow these instructions: https://listenbrainz.org/lastfm-proxy/

that said, you can just scrobble to last.fm and have listenbrainz get your listens via there?
      • 2023-03-25 08430, 2023

less futureproof in case last.fm disappears, I suppose, but also like, trivial

I suppose. I'd rather share my data with listenbrainz exclusively, though. I tried modifying the hosts file as described and using the API key as my password, but it doesn't seem to connect successfully.
