floo: There are separate "design" and "illustration" relationships
you can add both at the same time if that's how it's credited

Is there a desktop application that makes it easier to submit information to the database? I have had a brief look at Picard and Audioranger but they all seem to use the database to ID and tag tracks rather than allow the input of information.

justanotheraustr: in general, the "desktop application" that makes things easier to submit is one's web browser
derwin ah- thanks for that info, I will look in to the music scripts. I made a simple python script that makes track lists in the correct format to easily add a few local bands tracks but the library selection is just so limited on MB. I do like the look of the Bandcamp script. That will make quite a few artists easier to import.

justanotheraustr: the "mbsubmit" plugin of beets tagger also outputs in the correct format to sumbit tracklists to mb
justanotheraustr: in general, the best coverage is from the discogs script, then beatport, then bandcamp.
musicbrainz has the disadvantage of not having a marketplace attached to it, which the others do.
on the plus side, there's a community here who really care about data quality and correctness

I had that feeling when I started submitting - took awhile to read through the correct way to do things and still felt somewhat daunting but I think I have the hang of it. There are a few artists that are a bit of a trashcan... Artists with a lot of singles / bulk remix releases (Boregore for example).
But I will just go through my music library day by day and hopefully it improves something for someone.

ah, borgore.. there's a name I haven't heard in a while :)
