Does Musicbrainz Picard support genre categories?

No. We specifically expect edits to be made via the website and not fully automated

There's importers to pre-seed content from apple music though

Yes, to ensure people are at least looking at what they are doing

We do allow bots for some tasks, but they should generally have publicly available code and it's mostly for rote stuff like fixing links and whatnot rather than adding new data

(and they don't have a special API either)

a lot of people don't seem to pay much attention when using a-tisket, so I can only imagine what clients making fully automated edits via an API would be like

i get that music tagging is both complex and heavily opinionated, but what can really go wrong with a-tisket? i figure it just pulls well-formed metadata from streaming services

Does anyone know of a good way to search for cover art?  Just searching for the cd hasn't pulled up anything better than what's already in MB.

PelvicSorcery: it gets info from deezer, itunes and spotify and uses that to seed the release editor.

I think I tried that but I need to double check,.

Is the cover art uploader script the one that pulls from linked sources?  Because for this release the only source linked is amazon and that art is already there.

PelvicSorcery: in general there are few sources of cover art for anything but very famous albums anywhere but digital stores or discogs.
