Is there an easy way to take one of the already entered 'digital media' releases, and use the same track list / recordings but split the media across physical CDs?
For example, the first 'album' is shown as 'Digital Media 1' containing 14 tracks, that needs to be split across 2 CDs, each containing 7 tracks.

adhawkins: depends on your definition of easy :p
Reuse the same tracklist twice, remove the extra tracks
That should keep the recording associations
adhawkins
That sounds doable. So when you add a new medium to a release, it'll allow me to base it on an existing medium?
I've gone with 'Mercury Records'. The other releases use 'Universal Music Catalogue'

just add some label. sone or later one of the label-obsessives will come around, yell at you, and fix it
or just fix it
(this reply, tongue in mouth not serious)

Thanks ApeKattQuest: That's the conclusion I'd pretty much come to myself ;)

I have a question regarding capitalisation of Artist names, specifically this: https://musicbrainz.org/artist/d313ecf6-9256-41... on his official website, the album covers, the Anjunabeats website, Genius.com, probably more... list him as ilan Bluestone (note the lower-case i). So, I was about to change this on the Artist page, however I can't find any documentation regarding capitalisation of artist names.
The help text refers to the capitalisation guidelines, however those don't mention artists at all, and the Style/Artist doc doesn't mention capitalisation, soooo I'm in a pickle...
Funny though because 7digital capitalises the i while Pretzel Rocks has it in lowercase, and both are Songtradr companies D:

tarulia: yes, definitely looks like artist intent. Data quality on streaming and download sites is generally pretty awful, particularly in areas like this. I generally consider sites like Bandcamp, Instagram, Soundcloud etc. as more likely to reflect artist intent.

tarulia: BTW, I'd probably merge the ilan Bluestone and Bluestone artist. Looks like an name variation to me.

mh not entirely sure about that. From what I understand it's considered separate artists because they have different styles of music
I'll do the rename for now and then I can think about the merge :D
thanks for the input :)
atj
tarulia: the justification needed for creating a separate artist in the style guidelines is "In some cases, a person (or, more rarely, a group) can perform under multiple names that they actually consider different projects"
so if you think it falls within that, fair enough
tarulia
yeah the "different project" part is the key point I think, i.e. different genres = different projects
atj
2 releases in 2012 doesn't reallt seem enough to be a separate project
reosarevok
I'd say even one release is enough if that's the only time they did a separate genre and they seem to have changed the name intentionally for that reason
would that also require a second release in the release group then?
atj
potentially, problem is you can't tell when it changed
tarulia
yea
atj
the two artists should definitely be merged though, don't think there can be any argument it was a separate project
tarulia
I'll take the beatport entry with a mountain of salt though, I'm assuming they just group everything because the name on the cover doesn't even match what they list as the artist
