Binzy: That is probably a better question for #metabrainz, but I predict they'll say it's ok.
Binzy: your enthusiasm for the project, and especially outreach to musicians, is greatly appreciated.
Binzy
Thanks, I appreciate it.

a little late to the discussion, but I've also been feeling like ratings really don't belong on musicbrainz. critiquebrainz, sure, but on musicbrainz it feels quite wrong having a subjective opinion of a recording's quality inline with all non-subjective data on the page
and in my experience most recordings I come across don't have any ratings, anyways, or at most one or two people's rating

I don't know if having ratings is better than not having them, is musicbrainz a place where people really go and expect to see people's opinions on music?

aren't ratings on musicbrainz a rating of data quality?
or is that a different thing? shows you how much (little) I've used any related feature

[13:56] <Sciencentistguy> i've just come across a vinyl release where the shipped records don't have a barcode on the sleeve, but the product photos on the purchase page do have a visible barcode (871531024113)
if this is on bandcamp?
then the product page barcode might be for like the streaming version (same page for streaming and buy for physical shipping after all)
what does "engeance" mean? :)

Hello! Thanks for helping maintain this awesome database. I'm working on updating this release series, https://musicbrainz.org/series/10efa767-57d6-40... against the official numbering. However, before I started going through all 1500+ entries, I wanted to see if I could pull down the release series number in picard.
After searching over every tag available, I was not able to find anything associated with the release series -> attribute -> number.
Reaching out here to see if anybody has an idea how I can add this as a tag in picard. Grateful for any input!
kellnerd
tank99: The variable is named %_release_seriesnumber%.
It is a hidden variable, so you have to use it in a tagger script to map it to a tag which is written to your files.
Wait, your example is a release *group* series, so the variable is named %_releasegroup_seriesnumber%.
tank99
oh yes my fault it is a Release group series. Thank you! I expected it to be named something like that but didnt find it in the mapping docs. Ah that also explains why I don't see it in picard. I haven't looking into scripting yet, but guess thats next!
kellnerd thank you for the help. Custom script pulls it in. For anybody that might find this, simple example: $set(Episode Number,$if(%_releasegroup_seriesnumber%,%_releasegroup_seriesnumber%))

hello! I found a release (https://musicbrainz.org/release/061862d0-54e0-4...) where the tracklist on spotify and on the official youtube channel of the artist is different... not sure why, It might have changed afterwards. Should I add another release to the group with the correct tracklist or alter the existing release?

Hello everyone :D
Does anyone know what logos I can use in relation to a project that uses MusicBrainz ?
linearkaos: I think you're fine to use any variation, there's no corporate style branding guidelines ;)
linearkaos
thank you atj . I was guessing so, but I want to make sure to credit MusicBrainz (to the best of my ability) as I am very thankful for the Brainz-project :D
atj
linearkaos: you're doing way more than most people, so thanks on behalf of MetaBrainz
