reosarevok: The last two are definitely series (which were sold individually, I even have them on cassette), so I've created RG series for them and removed the deprecated rels.
For the first one I really don't know for sure: They look as if each disc has a different barcode, but Wikipedia states that the CDs were sold in boxes of 5 CDs... Not sure if that was the only form in which they were released or whether the boxes are only the later reissue.

Thanks!

Ok, according to promotion from a booklet on Discogs, the CDs were also available individually, at least the first ten. Doesn't clearly help for the relationships on CD 11 to 15, but a good indicator that it's probably safe to simply remove them.
And judging from images of the boxes which I have found, they package the CDs in cardboard sleeves instead of jewel cases, so I will go ahead and remove the set relationships.

reosarevok: any chance we can add a "tonmeister position at" artist -> place relationship credit?
I think though that the most sensible thing to do for now is just add "task" to the engineer position for places like we have elsewhere
I allowed that option for now, feel free to use "engineer" with task Tonmeister

great, thanks

reosarevok: task text should be in sentence case, correct? i may be missing something obvious but I can't see any specific mention of it in the style guidelines
<09thibauth> thanks at: and reosarevok: ! I just replied to the edit but figured it would be faster here
<09thibauth> I'm also in favor in keeping Tonmeister capitalized, due do it being German
ApeKattQuest
+1 to kapitalise german (although it's a pita when lowercasing eerything else remembering it)
:D

<09thibauth> also, I see the point about balance engineer in the style guide, but as I wrote in my edit, these days it usually appears as "Recording enginner (Tonmeister): John Smith" on releases by the Deutsche Grammophon, so I wonder whether we should use the recording engineer relationship in those cases
<09thibauth> in which case we would also need a "task" attribute on this relationship... let me know what you think

i think a free-text task relationship is a good idea for most rels. but I understand that it might create problems because people can be stupid ™

<09thibauth> this is the eternal tension in data modeling: as your model becomes more expressive you increase the chances of people misusing it and you also decrease the ability to do cool things with the data (in the limiting case of maximum expressiveness, you just have one big text fields that would contain all the credits...). so sometimes there is value in making your model less expressive and forcing people to make their data fit
into carefully crafted "boxes" 🙂 but it's a hard balance to find...
atj
thibauth: yep it's definitely a balancing act. To be fair, these types of relationship credits are not used that much, so the risk of misuse is fairly low.
discordbrainz
<09thibauth> yes good point. I'm definitely biased here because I mostly edit classical releases for which these credits are almost always given in the booklet and I'm a bit obsessive about adding everything that appears on the booklet 🙂
<09thibauth> also I used to be quite involved in the wikidata community where these kind of questions about data modeling are everywhere and I usually find them quite fascinating to think about 🙂

atj: to be fair, a report has been requested for "stuff with task fields" because people use them for all the wrong things :p
But I still think they're useful
