Silly question to ask. But does it look bad if an editor has numerous voted down edits? Some for me are for things like adding wrong cover art without realising they have to be a scan of the cd. or that there's a certain version of an album I did not know of, ect. I have seen some auto editors with more than 100 failed votes. The reason for asking is that to become an auto editor, 1 must be invited and voted on. I would like to fix past
mistakes. That's why I try and ask about an edit, rather than edit now, ask questions later.

just imho: it looks only bad if those are not frequently
i still have a ton of stuff for the queue and I sure do make mistakes and see the voting system as a filter for correct data

Goldmaster: For an autoeditor election, I personally would want there not to be recent downvotes that indicate a lack of care or understanding of guidelines. But if there are a lot of downvotes further back in a editors history, I wouldn’t care, it just shows progress. Even current ones are fine, if it’s a grey area being voted on and the editor is being polite and responsive.
mr44er[m]
and yeah...editing should not be a hunt for any status/auto editor whatnot.
aerozol[m]
Yeah, I wouldn’t stress about it. In general I guess it’s a nicer experience if you can do some research to avoid no votes :)

aerozol[m]: many thanks for your help and feedback
aerozol[m]: yes that what I try and do as much of when I can.
i think also its best to ask say here if unsure on something.
mr44er[m]: so really it based on how well 1 edits and not so much on number of failed edits. 1 of the guys who's subscribed to me has had 100 failed edits. so i guess theres hope.

<04elomatreb> (note that "failed" is something different from failed votes, edits fail for technical reasons e.g. when something else changes an entity in an incompatible way while the edit is open)

I’m a bit tired, but re. the ‘Odyssey’ release this is what it looks like: The Bandcamp publish date for that album is 2016 on the newer label page, which only started in 2019. I think that indicates that they rebranded their Bandcamp to the new name, but kept the releases. In that case having the date as the month the label rebranded (e.g. 2019-06) seems correct to me

<Goldmaster[m]1> "so really it based on how well 1..." <- it's like ebay. 100 people complaining about $blerb, the other 10000 were happy 😬
Goldmaster[m]1
aerozol[m]: so am i right to cancel the edit as the info is correct
thank you for the help

Goldmaster[m]1: honestly I have a few hundred (??) such down woted. and it turn out it's stuff that was premature, things that would be upvoted today but the time i did it it wasn't the way to do it, and a few jumping the gun and a few grudge ones
honestly it 's the most important is that *most* of your votes are edits wher you've researched and, especially if you've written dit notes. i have burned myself on this myself, i forgot ot write edit notes and 10 years later i'm like "wtf was i thinking here"

as aerozol[m] says, them ost important thing is being responsive and engaging with the community. the desire to "fix things" to "t have right"
sometimes even if you research and justify your edits people just, disagree

<02UltimateRiff> I believe it's just a spare domain MetaBrainz has, and they're using it for Matrix
<02UltimateRiff> (and I think FilmBrainz or VideoBrainz would be a better name anyways, because we've already got 3 projects with MB as the acronym)

I was taking a look at the MusicBrainz homepage because I occasionally look at the new stuff submitted. Saw this: https://musicbrainz.org/edit/111259974
Nothing is wrong with it, but I just think that is an absolutely INSANE album cover. As a Drake fan, that is hilarious.
