So, uh, just a "shower" thought: whenever cover art uploading is enabled again, it might be good to send a system email to all users who submitted releases during the time window reminding them to add cover art, if possible.

I think the idea may be worth considering, though, since there are probably a lot of folks (like me) who do not regularly use the beta site.

hi! quick group naming question

if a group releases music then has to change their name due to legal issues, should they be separately listed under their two different names or merged into one page?

and if the latter, is there a good way to indicate that merge? an alias?

rnkn: any artwork can be uploaded to CAA, no need to worry about the licenses and whatnot

meow10811: one artist page for both names, and yes, an alias. you might also add new releases under the new artist name, especially if they changed the name on the cover art

UltimateRiff[m]: gotcha! the specific case i'm dealing with (advantage Lucy and Lucy Van Pelt) already has two separate artist pages. should i migrate the releases and delete the old page?

that bandcamp userscript for importing to mb is so useful

just added 4 releases under 2 new artists much quicker than i could've without it

when will caa be open for uploads again?

meow10811: it'd be better to merge the artist pages (and be sure to uncheck "Update matching artist and relationship credits to use the new artist’s name" in a case like this)

an artist merge *might* add an alias automatically, but I'm not certain... I usually manually add it just to be sure

zayd: if you haven't tried it, there's also Harmony, which works with Bandcamp as well as several streaming services. it'll even find a release across multiple platforms (even from Bandcamp, if there's a UPC entered there), so I typically prefer it over the Bandcamp userscript these days~

it'll also copy the credits section to the annotation

Not sure if it is actually possible to restrict the time window, but this query worked for me to show my most recently added releases:

I used this to add the cover art for my edits a little while ago.

so, I've got a release that I'm not sure what status to use. it's a release by someone who isn't the artist, but the artist gave approval for the release, as they've disowned all their old music. it feels like a bootleg compilation release, but since the artist gave permission, would that make it official?

Yes, very useful for my pedantic need of having the closest possible cover to what the original would have looked like, but totally fair that it is not suitable for MB
